I think people are getting carried away about how good Bayern Munich are. I think they are the most overrated team in Europe right now. Good side yes, unstoppable? Please. I think they would struggle to beat Chelsea for one. Just like Pep's old side, Bayern will be praying they don't draw Chelsea. The way Chelsea play will destroy Bayern's game.

The best draw for United would be PSG or Chelsea. PSG play in a weak league, United would be tough opposition for them.

How can Bayern be overrated? They're the champions of europe and have actually got even better this season.

And yes PSG do play in a weak league but they've got a star studded side. Not many United players would be getting into the PSG lineup.

The story of the Guardiola trap came about at a spanish presentation dinner last September.Guardiola was bragging about it and Sergio Ramos(real madrid)was at the table.(Guardiola thought he was in trusted company)but they say that Sergio is a good friend of a well known  Barca player who he rooms with while on international duty and Sergio informed the Barca player, and thats how it got out.Barca are fuming over the whole affair and are determined to get even.Cool

As Arsenal proved and highlighted, Bayern are overrated, they play in an overrated league and were made to look poor by Arsenal in the first leg up until the the sending off in which everybody's mate 'Pep' said himself, it was the first time any side had dominated Bayern this season, second leg they were average and ere running scared of the OX, pulled out of position all over the shop. It's like what beckenbauer said "we're boring to watch.", effective yes, great, no.

Arsenal undeniably had the better of the first 15-20 minutes, after that the game settled down and Bayern were dominating possession even before the sending off.

2nd leg Bayern were still the better side without getting out of first gear.

You haven't answered the question though, how can the champions of europe be overrated? If they were being talked up as champs yet kept falling short and winning nothing, then yes they'd be overrated but how can a side that has won everything over the past year and continues to break records be overrated?

Surely it's yet to be decided if BM are better or otherwise this season? They will be measured in the CL not in the surprisingly weak Bundesliga.

PSG are not used to playing top class opponents. So their team, star studded as it might be, has not been tested against high class opposition.

I expect Chelsea to cruise through to the semi's.

Man U players might well rise to the occasion against BM... don't write them off yet.

Don't write off Dortmund either.

Dortmund have 6 of the 11 that started last years final missing for the first leg (and probably 5 for the 2nd leg).

United jumped out from 20s to mid-30s after that draw. Seriously, who was the market expecting them to get? Olympiakos again?

Bayern will stroll through.
Real to get revenge on Dortmund for last year.
Barca to just scrape past Atletico.
PSG v Chelsea is the hardest one to call. Could come down to away goals.

Ladbrokes were 4/5 match odds on Bayern. I went to a ladbrokes shop which is only 5 minutes away and by the time I got there it was 4/6. Gutted.

Ath Madrid looks a decent punt at 25 considering they have a good record this year against the spanish clubs, also the fact bayern could draw madrid in semi draw.

I will be backing all 4 outsiders on the outright

Chelsea 14
A Madrid 25
Man Utd 34
Dortmund 40

I think the top2 have an outstanding chance with their draws and will hope one of the free swings with the bottom 2.

Atletico and Chelsea in with a shout in their respective ties with Barcelona and PSG. Dortmund will struggle against Real Madrid as Lewandowski is a key player and is out out the 1st leg and they have other injury concerns. Man Utd have no hope v one of the best teams in Europe.

Got to say I'm surprised people are dismissing PSG on here early on, they strolled into the quarter finals this year.

2 easy ties in Real and Bayern.

Stroll in the park for Bayern and Real, and you have to fancy Chelsea will be too strong for PSG. Barca v Atletico much harder to call, but the value clearly on Atletico.

The draw was the worst possible : of the 7 they could have got , 3 were clearly on another level , so the chances were they'd get one of the other 4 , with the possibility of two of the big 3 meeting in another tie .

Simply by people thinking they are better than they are.

If the view is they are the best team ever than they are overrated IMO .

I don't doubt it was about the worst possible draw. But, the fact is, United are arguably the weakest side left in the competition, maybe comfortably so. Ridiculous price movement imho - well the initial price was just far too short.

If Atletico have their fate in their own hands in La Liga when the QF against Barca comes up they may just let that tie slip. They can beat Barca for sure but it takes them an herculean effort for them to do so. On the flip-side if they are out of the La Liga race the reverse could happen!

I wouldn't say Bayern were overrated at all. They've been the best team in Europe for 4-5 seasons now since Barca's total dominance came to an end.
By:
high_lander
When: 22 Mar 14 13:56
First off Barcelona never had total dominance and secondly it was only a couple of years back they were calling Barca the best team ever. No doubt Bayern Munich will be the new best team ever.

No idea where you are getting Bayern Munich as the best team for the past 5 seasons?!?

Some of the biggest games in the history of the club and they are going to just not bother because they might get tired ? Crazy

high_lander they've been 3 finals in the last 4 years. This is their 5th year of being dominant. Barca had close to total dominance as you can get, like Spain did. I know from experience though any team who knocks out your beloved Arsenal are cr@p, overrated etc Wink

Tob not suggesting they will throw the tie (and you know this) but if they go 1 or 2 down against Barca you would think they would prioritize accordingly. For them, winning their league would be a bigger achievement than the Champions League.

I'm with the Spanish experts who say something has to give in their season to win one of the trophies.

Hamsterdam make up your mind! You cant have it both ways. Either Barca or Bayern have dominated over the past 5 years, which one is it?

Bayern have won 1 champions league in 5 years, that's not dominance. They were even embarrassed at home by the not so mighty Chelsea in a CL final.

You can say Barca were dominant for 3 years because they won 2 within 3 years, but Bayern have never been dominant. They are just a decent side who have improved a lot over the past 2 seasons. I remember how lucky they were knocking out Man u few years back. Speaking of Man U they were in 3 finals in 4 years, were they also dominant? Laugh Chelsea got to 2 finals they must be dominant as well Laugh

Looks like we have 4 dominant teams now Crazy
