Why give up possession to a side who love to have lots of possession? Why not go at them and keep them on the back foot. City were at home but they played like they were the away team. I wonder if Pellegrini, like so many of his countrymen, have an inferiority complex when coming up against Barcelona and Real Madrid? City played like a team who were afraid.

Could've gone the other way though high lander. If he'd attacked Barca from the off and they'd been done on the break then people would've said he was mad to go all out attack against them.

Yes they invited pressure on and let Barca have the ball but you couldn't say Barca were creating much. Hart didn't have much to do, one long range shot from Xavi was about it. I think he was happy to take a 0-0 and then go for an away goal in the Nou Camp.

Biscuit, I'm not saying go all out attack. You can attack and keep pressure on the opposition without playing recklessly. It seemed to me that City were on the back foot from the off. They handed the psychological advantage to Barca by changing their team and style of play. Pellegrini might as well have come out and said "we know you are better than us." If you are a strong home team in Europe you do not change your style of play for any team. That was very weak from Pellegrini

Yeah i see your point but City went 442 v Bayern and look what happened so that was obviously in Pellgrini's mind.

I also think City having Demichelis, a half fit Fernandinho and Nasri and no Aguero didn't help them either.

Nah City played 4-4-1-1 but more importantly they did not commit themselves to attack. They should have went at the opposition and kept them on the back foot, if possible. Maybe it wouldn't have made any difference, Barca were excellent. But at least City could have had a proper go.

Man city will probably hold out for a 0-0 draw at the Camp

that's how these games go - Barca won't be winning 4 or 5-0 ,that's for certain

they might have to  drop Hart though  Grin
