Barcelona made City look very ordinary today. I think Pellegrini handed the opposition a huge advantage by changing his formation and being more defensive. You never give up home advantage in Europe. Pellegrini made a huge mistake tonight.

man city should stick to the carling cup not good enough to challenge in europe.

at least city will have their best player back for the 2nd leg

was very naive of demichelis to make that challenge

I thought City were awful tonight, never took the game to the opposition, looked clueless.
|
|
By:
yep city disappointing.
|
|
By:
was very simply out played
|

By:
yes must congratulate barca on getting 3 shots on target(including pen0 against 10 men , has any other team managed this /

I think Bayern will be waiting for them later and sort them out with the minimum of fuss like last time
|
|
By:
think the same here, bayern the team to beat again.

By:
jamdav.....it wouldn't have been disallowed if he scored himself......but he passed to a player was......have another peep.....
|

By:
Man city 32% possesion, 28% in their own half...promising.
|
|
By:
it seemed to me that city were playing for a 0-0 from the start, they were always going to be on the wrong end of the posession figures, but up untill the sending off they showed very little urgency with their own limited posession.
|
|
By:
to be honest meadow, the possession stats are invariably like that in barca game but what did you expect in the 2nd half with city down to ten, did you think theyd be all over barca with 1 man down
that said they still probably had as many chances. |

did city have a chance

they can have 70% of the chances v bayrn but end up wityh 25% of the goals

Soflw,
True that teams really struggle v barca at the best of times but down to tem men means getting the tent and sleeping bags pitched in your own half. I can't see a way back for them but they need to get stuck in. |
|
By:
I wouldn't surprise me with nothing to lose we don't see cit take risks and give barca a better game than is expected, if theyre a huge price ill have a small bet on them winning the 2nd leg
|
|
By:
barca beat them without getting out of 1st gear... laughable really laughable
2nd leg is gonna be a tanking of epic proportions... cant wait ![]() |
|
By:
I personally thought Barcelona were pretty average tonight. The old Barca would have gone for the kill and knocked in 3 or 4 after the penalty. Navas gets the blame for the goal, and how much City do rely on Aguero ?
Another horror show on the cards tomorrow from an English side. |

By:
True enough, but then they were playing teams who deserved to be in the Champions League.
|
|
By:
tbh this barca was a lot less naive than the guardiola version. back then they went all out attack and left themselves too exposed. but this lot conserved their energy and played a very impressive waiting game. i was very impressed and i now think they will win the cl... i'm saying that and i used to hate barca

Its time, everyone, woke up to the fact, that Spains La Liga, is better than the English (foreign) Premier League and agree that Barce, are definatly not the side they once were, however their, still an excellent side and have the expieriance, that Man City don't in the Champions League.

Man city team v Barcelona 2nd leg (they wont have any legs left after this one)
Shumacher, Dave Mackay, Tom Forsyth, Jack Charlton, Doug Rougvie Billy Bremner, Chopper Harris, Norman Hunter, Jimmy Johnstone, Gary Lineker, Ally McCoist Scythe them down then hoof it up to the front men. |

Man City are the best of what is a poor league. When it comes to the European elite they are still quite a way off.

City are great in prem league, not so with giants. City performance rests on pellegrinis shoulders, they could have done better, very defensive and bad tactics an team choice. Obviously could have done with Augero, didnt see what all the fuss was about fernandinho, negrado is good but goes awol a lot and needs feeding balls, nasri a great player. Barca are a class above city no doubt. Not the best barca performance but the defense looked better, is it puyol glad he didnt play, bit tighter at the back. Danny alvis loves getting forward. They started to up the anti towards the end, could have easily been 0-4, bad tactics by pelligrini, I rest the blame on him, not that i care as i follow barca. Xavi losing the shine though. Barca magic still there

City seemed happy with a 0-0 from the start and happy with the 0-1 when they went down to 10 men. Now Pelligreni says they will have to go for it in the 2nd leg.....here's a daring thought, how about if they had gone for it from the off???? Barca's only weakness is when teams go after them as they are not great at defending. Valencia beat them at the Nou Camp recently by doing just that and City are a far better side than Valencia. Pellegrini got it totally wrong.

Football does my nut in. Referees ruin so many games. Was not a penalty as initial contact was outside the box. Don't know why they don't make use of video replays.
Tennis has benefitted no end from hawk eye technology. Time for an overhaul for football to bring it in to the modern era. |

Pellegrini made a huge mistake playing defensively against Barcelona last night. It's the worst thing you can do. He should have went 4-4-2 and went at them from the off. Sitting back and inviting them to attack you is asking for trouble. Terrible tactics. The worse possible tactics in fact.

poor manager tactics for sure,braindead
