It's a bit like saying Man U getting a 0-0 against stoke last game of the season is a JFK style conspiracy, when the trophy is already sitting in the stand with their name on it and they can enjoy a 90 minute stroll...

The last time Manchester United played a conference side, they won 1-0 with the Conference side hitting the bar in the final minute.

No way would Jordan be 5th in Asia if they were Conference level . They are probably about the level of, say, Bournemouth , while Uruguay about as good as Spurs . If Spurs played away to Bournemouth they might win 5-0 if everything went right for them on the day , but you wouldn't make them 1.04 to win at WHL .

I can't believe this is still going on.
As much as people think there is a massive difference between the two sides, there isn't. Jordan at home are a pretty decent outfit and better teams than Uruguay have gone there and lost. Where Uruguay have a different class is that they have a few expensive strikers who people see the name of and back the national team. Uruguay aren't a very good side, they have played poor football for the last few years and only got through the group ahead of Venezuela because of help(yes the football super power). Those that are looking for fixes should watch the Colombia and Argentinian games that sealed Uruguay's qualification(Dig up the threads on here and you will see people talking about the result the market expected and duly delivered, that's a clear sign). Uruguay haven't played as a team for a long time and that was abundantly clear in the Confed cup. The only victories they've had since 2011 outside of friendlies are as follows; Peru 4-2, Venezuela 0-1, Nigeria(N) 1-2, Tahiti(N) 8-0 & Peru 1-2. Would you be shocked that Jordan beat that motley lot at home? Jordan are a decent home side, they defend well and play as a team. Where the real difference in class lies is that underneath Jordan's first team you get a sharp drop in players and in the first leg that showed. What didn't show it seems were that Jordan were the better team for much of the game in a 5-0 loss. Up until the 4th goal Uruguay had 4 shots on target and Jordan had more shots on target and overall. Jordan are a typical middle east side who struggle to finish off decent play, much was the same here. Uruguay got lucky. I don't buy that Uruguay were told on high to be easy on them nor that they weren't motivated to win the game in front of their own fans because of their horrible home record. Was the Uruguay v Jordan game a shock, yes, Jordan got lucky. The first leg was the bigger shock and those that don't know Jordan from Adam had Tahiti contact lenses fitted. Unless Uruguay change something they will be rubbish in the World cup and everyone who sees Cavani and Suarez and backs on the name will end up disappointed once more. |
