whenever my older brother went to London he had to endure the risk of rival fans battling it out between themselves as well as against him and his fellow supporters, he was once in a very precarious - and trapped - state in one of the underground stations when from nowhere - train-full of Scottish rugby fans visiting Twickenham came to his rescue.
I truly believe the toughest of all fans throughout the late 70's - 80's were Cardiff city - and by a mile. |

By:
there was a famous prog on tv documenting their travels and on one occasion, a group of them - visiting Wrexham, were actually saying they had to get 'these english barstards.'

there were a bunch of them not far from west ham's ground same day they were playing orient in cup and Liverpool playing hammers, west ham fans wouldn't go near them because they were all 15 stone monsters prob in their 30's and 40's.

Hibs v Sunderland in a pre-season friendly 2003
The biggest turnout of "lads" I've seen following Sunderland, around 11.30am about 70 Hibs come giving it the big one and then around 300 Sunderland lads come round the corner and chase Hibs down the street, catch up with them and its not an understatement to say Hibs lads were lying all over the road, never seen so much claret in one place. Lads slashing people with stanley blades man, horrible like. As the "friendly" match was taking place, Sunderland smashed up 2 of their boozers near ground. Gets back to Newcastle train station at 9pm where there was a pre-arranged meet with Newcastle's firm "The Gremlins", they totally underestimated how many Sunderland would turn up and only about 60 of them turned up, they got battered(well the ones that didn't run up Pink Lane ), Sunderland then smashed up a bar called O'Neill's over road from station, tables flung through window, coppers just stood videoing it, didn't even attempt to stop it.That day was certainly an eye opener. |

By:
they video it so they can nick you weeks after

Yes, a lot of banning orders dished out after that game. Few lads who were due to fly to Portugal for Euro 2004 Championships got stopped from travelling as well.

|
|
By:
You must have been acting yourself, Tony!!!!
Don't really see much bother at Sundrland, generally only bother if you act yourself, like Man Utd did at the weekend! |
|
By:
newcastle sunderland last year
some sunderland fans stormed a gay bar, seemingly some back doors got damaged |
|
By:
I was also at the game at goodison when they got relegated,it was like a sunderland home game, famous for Coventry and Bristol city staying up while your lot went down after everton won, strangely didn't see any trouble that night anyway.

By:
That Boro game, Tbag, I had the mis fortune to go the same boozer as the 'snorty forty' crew of mad Toffees going on a mission. I seriously thought about driving home before the game !

West Ham fans
Bexy was a good character! |
|
By:
so what about the other fans - were they millwall ?
|
|
By:
i was only watching a few old films last week---the firm--green street---football factory--anymore ?
|
|
By:
Bexy and his friends think of themselves as important, respected figures in their local community but Bexy's wife points out to him that the truth is somewhat different. Everyone thinks of him as a bit of a joke figure but because of their fear of his violent nature few are willing to point out to him that he isn't the working class hero he thinks he is.
