Oh dear Jamie.  The English disease for hyperbole really is going too far.

Bale's a superb player but come on.

Real and Barca would both sign him in a flash

they might both sign him, but that dosen't mean he's as good as those two.

That wasn't his point.  If he said he could get in their teams I'd agree.  Had he said he's 'up there with Alexis, Di Maria etc etc' than I'd agree.

He didn't say that though.  He said 'he's up there with the Ronaldo's and Messi's'.  He isn't.

Typical sh1te from Redknapp.

There would be Messi, Ronaldo and a gap of at least ten other players before we start talking about Bale ffs.

Same kind of record as Walcott.

Bale is ronaldo lite. Doubt he'll be as good as him, but he is becoming a fantastic player.

maybe jamie thinks barca or madrid would be interested in a straight swap deal, plus a cash adjustment for spurs obviously, Laugh,
typical media pundit juding a player against an average out of form team with 10 men,
imagine messi and ronaldo getting judged in similar circumstances instead of champions lg games

Disagree with that. Dont see too many similarities in their game.

Until Bale does it consistently in the Champions League, Jamie is talking a load of tosh.

Bale looks to be improving all the same.

i think bale is quite similar to ronaldo but not as good hed need to improve another 30% or so

but can we really tell when bales playes for spurs

how good would bale be playing for real madrid ?  still probablt about 20-30% short of ronaldo

Bale playing for Madrid or any other top team will come up against teams who park the bus from the first whistle and dont allow him the space in behind that he needs to be at his best.

It will be a whole new challenge for him which he doesnt get every week with Spurs.

Ronaldo and Messi deal with that every week.

Like West brom did today then

Yes with ten men is a bit easier to break down.

Just like QPR did last week and Man Utd sitting deep after they scored a couple of weeks ago it largely nullified Bale.

No reason to believe that Bale can't turn out to be as good as Walcott tho Mr Eboue, he just needs to improve his goals and assists tally a little bit and lacks the Champions League experience although tbf he has looked very good when playing european opposition.

vs 10 men is hardly a novel scenario for Ronaldo and Messi tbf Mischief
By:

Space in behind like today jamdav? There was none, WBA sat deep with ten men til bale scored a ronaldo-esque goal.

If you really see no similarity between the two players in their style, the I can only assume you don't see bale very often. He will never be as good, but he is modelling his play on ronnie IMO.

I think he'd be devastating in La Liga. He's no Messi, but he's in the Ronaldo mould imho, not as good, but no-one better between them and the rest imho.
By:
JamDav1982

What similarities do you see between Ronaldo and Bale then dza?

Teams sitting deep and Bale is not the same player, today scoring against ten man West Brom doesnt change that.

By:

i doubt there are 2 players in the history of football who have had as much time playing against 10 men as Messi & Ronaldo

RMB you rate Bale as better than Xavi, Iniesta etc?

He is not even as good as Van Persie, Ibrahimovic, Rooney etc.

Long, long way to go to prove that.

Is Bale 'up there' with Ronaldo and Messi?

No.

Would he get in Madrid team? Yes. Barca's probably aswell.

Until Bale starts scoring 40 goals a season he is nowhere near those 2.

Are people suggesting Bale is the 3rd best player in the world?

He is a great player but lets not get too excited here.

I agree with the dza!s assessment.  He's got lots of the same attributes as Ronaldo - pace, running with the ball, shooting, heading and strength.  Ronaldo is just so consistent and single minded which sets him apart.

Messi is on a whole different level.
By:

Strength and pace, great shot, ability to do what he did today when ind and around the box, the same, flat free kick style, heading ability. Very similar attributes to ronaldo and as I said, he seems to be modelling his game on him. When avb gives him the freedom to play everywhere, he is a different player to the one who stays down the left and gets double marked.

I hope that all the top managers disagree so that we can keep him for awhile! If you disagree with me then fair enough, but I watch bale every game and won't change my opinion! Excited

Few years back. Didn't Liverpool play against ten men in over 10 league games.. That will take some beating.

But to the original point, redknapp is a tit. Nobody is anywhere near messi and ronaldo. Bale isn't even in the Falcao, Rvp tier yet, but I think he is close and will get there.

he is never gonna score 40 a season when he typically picks up the ball on the wing or 50 yards from goal

When he does get the ball in those position though there is a serious chance of a goal, either for him or a simple chance he will set up for a teammate

You can't say that about more than 3 other players in the world IMO

he's got the potential to be as good as Ronaldo but not Messi. He just needs to go to a top club to develop further.

In the mould of Ronaldo, i.e. fast paced wingers who can play up top. I'd have Bale as next best. Out of every position he's far less useful than Iniesta etc.

Tobermory you think so?

Go and look at all the other players that score and assist more than him then.
