Giving salary to charity, v honorable indeed but why give it all to French charities, plenty of UK charities out there needing a dig out. Would a French player give his wages to a UK charity...I wonder. So as much as I respect Becks, I wonder what are his motives.

Agree with MaryChain's previous comment....
and one more thing "As for you R0y, you're on a Beckham fred with your lubed-up ass cheeks parted quicker than Ken gets on a fred about Kevin Pullein Hilarious! ![]() |

Imagine if he ever did something wrong, so much bitterness and jealousy on here it's sickening, if not surprising
|

I can't think why he had to announce it, why didn't he just hand it over without having to milk it for all its worth?
|

You mean like selling his life to the press, helping to fuel a society where hype rules over substance, getting sent off for petulance in a world cup last 16 tie, missing vital penalties, or jumping out the way of a tackle in a world cup quarter final?
Yes, just imagine he did any of those things, and the stick he would get. |

has the french government agreed to drop the stupid 87% tax on sir davids wages
so french childrens charidees get the full benefit ? will posh be taxed 87 % on her earnings too, that would be funny |
|
By:
I'm pretty sure it won't be taxed before the charities get it.

If he was so charitable why not give some of his millions to charity. He is a has been. Not good enough for English football for many years.
Go give half your wealth to some African country and make a major difference. And don't brag about it |

I rest my case

Isn't young Sterling at Liverpool giving a certain amount of his wages each week to put kids through school in Jamaica where he was born? Think he's also looking to fund a football academy there.
Fair play to Beckham for what he's doing but plenty of players give to charity and they don't get there work highlighted anywhere near as much (and they've earned nowhere near as much as Beckham has!) |
|
By:
Yes loads of players give a portion if their wages, I've only ever heard one give all their wages. Wasn't sterling in trouble for assault against a woman this week??

Salary =/= income

Forget the charity stuff, someone actually said that Beckham was a better player than Lampard!
![]() Lampard, at his best, was miles better than Beckham. It's not all about goals scored, BUT, Beckham only hit double figures in the league once in his career, at any club he's been at. Lampard is all set to hit double figures for the tenth season in a row. Ten seasons. Not as a striker, but as an attacking midfield player. Amazing. In terms of what Beckham could do better than Lampard, he could cross it better...maybe long-range passing (and that's debatable, as Lampard is an excellent passer) and that's about it. Beckham was an excellent player who's on-field achievements/ability have been inflated by his incredibly successful brand. But players such as Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes were all superior to him. |

Just Checking you have always been all too ready to get on your knees in front of Beckham, and you clearly have no idea about tax whatsoever. As an eminent professor of French tax law I can assure you that Beckham has conned you. How much better off will the charity be? |

AND PENALTY TAKER. dont forget that important bit ![]() |
|
By:
Take away the penalties and he is still a much superior player to Beckham. And is probably the most consistent performer of the Premier League era, which is the most important bit of all.
|
|
By:
Cant say I agree to "much" superior. In their prime both were extremely desirable players.
|
|
By:
Yeah, I could retract "much" and leave it at "superior".
That's not to take away from Beckham, who was an excellent player at his best. But I think there are 3 English midfielders who, at their peak, were better players than him. (I'm just going on the modern, Premier League era). And Lampard's achievements, to me, seem very under-rated by some. |
|
By:
i cant remember lampard wanting to take the free kicks when beckham was on the pitch
different players, but people forget how good beckham was amongst all the fashion hype |
|
By:
Lets just say I dont think united fans would have taken Lamps for becks, nor would chelsea fans want that swop. Both fantastic careers.
