Tobes it's all to do with the fact he nearly always opposes Utd/Everton and nearly always backs Liverpool. As usual it's the blatant tribalism in football and its merely a Liverpool v Utd /Everton thing, his tips on the most part are usually quite poor in all honesty he is fairly amusing although some of his jokes must come out of crackers
|
|
By:
In fairness he comes out with some serious clangers most weeks with little or no thought into his picks 'I'm not having that no way' .. I recall him Xmas last year saying put your Christmas savings on Chelsea -1 away to Wigan,it will buy all the presents you want lol ended 1-1
|

The last couple of posts are absolutely nonsense. McGovern is on the wind up
most of the time, his tips are just quick stabs, some win, some lose, etc, etc, but if he mentions l'pool, ManU or Everton he reels in a few dummies. His jokes are not very funny ? Oh, dear, perhaps the Mirror ought to tell him to get a new joke book. LOL. |

Ken its only worth posting on here when your on a thread.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think you were a bookie. I can why your not now 4/7 home, 9/2 draw, 9/2 away !!!!! |

Oh Derek boy, done me up like a kipper with this thread lol There you are LUKE. Thought you'd left the country. Glad to see you've got a sense of humour. It's sod's law that when you put up a thread like this it nearly always goes tit$ up, ask Dawsey. Still if nothing else you managed to lure Over2.5 into making a fool of himself again. |
|
By:
ok, noprogambler, the draw should have been shorter, the away
a bit longer, but for simplicity putting them together at 9/2 each equalled 7/4, with ManU at 4/7 = a 100% book and sometimes on course you may see 4/7, 9/2,9/2 each on different boards. Come racing !! |

Charwell IS McGovern!
He sometimes makes mistakes and posts under his other forum name degsy42 (or something like that) Amazing that nobody is onto him |
|
By:
Kenilworth, what I was really asking was why do you spend time on here arguing with mug punters ?
It seems like a waste of time because they aren`t teachable as all those threads about Value demonstrate.. |
|
By:
RAPS, I don't know why I do it, it just irritates me this gratuitous
slaggging of professional journalists, commentators, pundits, etc., who will never come on here and lower themselves, so I feel I must do it for them. I feel that by saying nothing I am agreeing with the criticism in a way, and I can't help myself. GL |

No mug punter would ever accept that he was one.

The "tips" don't come from McGovern at all. The column is sponsored by Hills and the bets are chosen for him, all he does is add some poor jokes to them.
|
|
By:
Marxist, that's interesting and not surprising when we think
about it. |

Have left crystal hunt,I still listen to the willy hills podcast fri evenings for the chuckle ! Big Ron is mad for backing the draws

Only McGovern could tip Lyon tonight only for them to be thrashed by Sociedad
![]() |
|
By:
At least he didn't wait till the match
was over before giving his opinion. |
|
By:
McGovern would have only put up Lyon because he wont have heard of Real Sociedad. I'm amazed how bookies and publications still try and fund his comedy career by employing him as a tipster.

He gets one right now and again.
Don't think it's supposed to be taken too-oo seriously. ![]() And his newspaper column is often a bit of a giggle. |
|
By:
His jokes are good imo, one time he said "my gp told me to watch what I eat, so I went home and watched Racing uk" I thought that was a great one.
|
|
By:
I think raspberry is spot on, besides I don't believe
McGovern ever claimed he would show a profit with his picks, nor would anyone tipping one a day. |
|
By:
He is a typical scouser, always good for some banter. The sort Mancs love to hate. But he feels exactly the same about Mancs
![]() He is a c r a p footie tipster though because of his hatred for Man U...... |
|
By:
dessie, how bad IS he? do you keep
records of his tips? If not, why throw the abuse? |
|
By:
Nothing abusive there kenilworth, just banter. If I were being abusive I would use the word c r a p (nor would he

A 2009 quote:
"Bookies now quote Manchester United at odds-on to finish the season potless – but I doubt they’ll even do that well. Of course it’s far too early to write United off after just one defeat, but at the same time it’s terrific fun. A year ago the Red Devils signed flop Dimitar Berbatov for £32million. Fergie publicly backs the bone-idle Bulgarian but privately must be searching everywhere for the receipt. Fergie also picked up Michael Owen on a free but was still robbed. There’s even talk that Fergie’s job is on the line, with Hills quoting him at 9-2 not to be manager at the end of the season. But United are not a firing club. [b]United are a misfiring club." Classic c r a p lol |

for having the audacity to tip a loser. It's not a hanging offence!! So there!!! GL. |
