Hi Lads, I am thinking about going all in to LAY Portugal.

I mean It is impossible for the dutch to lose all their 3 matches. Impossible? What do you think?

Hardly. I would have thought goals is the way to go in this one... Holland have to attack - which means they could easily win or lose.

Thanks Gareth,

On your advice I guess that Portugal clean sheet no @1.32 next to Holland or draw @ 1.5 would be more suitable.. since that if a crazy Portugal 2-1 occurs I would still win.

Your thoughts?

Gareth is right, Holland have to attack. Portugal have be all out to get something from this game. Both teams to score is the best bet here.

You'll see a different Netherlands today, out will go the two holding midfielders and in their stead will come Huntelaar, Van Der Vaart and hopefully Luciano Narsingh. The Dutch will go all out for a win and hope Germany beat Denmark.

Well after all a draw and Portugal are most certainly through and we all know that they are draw specialists... 0-0 or 1-1 ?!

Van Bommel won't be playing - he has nothing to offer these days, his legs have gone.

I wonder if Germany are tempted to try and eliminate one of their main rivals by drawing with Denmark?

i did think germans could try that but guess they would like to be in opposite side of the draw to spain...

i doubt it...since the austrian debacle - and austrians are their friends after all -i judt dont think its in their mentality, tho i suppose they could take things a little easier now they know they dont really have to win, i think denmark to score could be a good bet tho as before these euros germany did concede a lot

I am really divided on this one to be honest.. Dead certain about holland to score but now I am having second thoughts :(

Germany only need a draw to win the group and if Netherlands win, Denmark only need a draw to qualify. It might be advisable for the Netherlands NOT to go something like 3-0 up.

How can Holland qualify if qualification is judged on head to head record ahead of goal difference? The maximum the Dutch can do is get to 3 points which is the same as Denmark if they lose to Germany but Denmark have a better head to head record as they beat Holland?

Netherlands need to win by 2 clear goals to go through providing Germany beat Denmark.

Correct. It's as simple as this. NO other combination of results puts Holland through. I'm sick and tired of explaining this to people and having people ask about head to heads & goal difference. Google it if you're not sure.

On this match, overs looks great value at just under even money. Holland imo have been unlucky with their shots / goals conversion rate. Portugal have the weakest defence out of the teams Holland will have played thus far so this points to a Holland win for me. They've nothing to lose either - everyone expects them to be out so all the pressure is on Portugal to get a result.

I'm not so sure they can win by a 2 goal margin (think they'll concede), but i can't see them losing against Portugal. Over 2.5 or if you're feeling adventurous, over 3.5 is worth a look at 3.25. Wait to see how the first 10 minutes pan out and if there looks to be goals in it and both teams are going for it, then over 3.5 is probably best value once it hits the 4 mark.

If either side score early, it'll open the floodgates because the side that's losing can't afford to be losing if they want to stay in the competition.

The other thing I would add that makes me like goals is that Holland needing to press will play into Portugal's hands. We all know how devastating Ronaldo is on the break and Nani isn't bad either. Look what happened when Denmark pressed... Ronaldo had two great chances one and absolute one on one sitter. Both teams to score isn't a bad call...
I also like a lay of 9 corners and under...

This game could be very interesting tactically. I wouldn't be surprised if Netherlands play it tight for an hour, then go all out attack, in an effort to make it as difficult as possible for the other two sides to carve it up between them. Holding back until the last half hour is the smart move.

If it's still 0-0 with 30 mts to go - get on overs.

My advice, just don't get involved much safer/better bets in the coming days.  Portugal look a decent team against Germany and Ronaldo is a game changer and who knows what Holland will do with that bunch of narcissistic individuals masquerading as a team?

Agreed. Never back a team that doesn't need to win. Look at what happened with Russia, Ukraine & Denmark. It ****s with their heads because they know deep down (even if they say otherwise) that a win isn't required to stay in the tournament, so that impacts on every decision they make. Whether to pass forward or back, whether to risk a through ball, whether to chase down what they would normally regard as a lost cause etc... don't underestimate how difficult it is to win or draw when all you need to to is win or draw.

I'm assuming Denmark won't beat Germany, in which case Portugal know they'll go through with a draw. My guess is they'll be happy with a draw against the dutch or happy to pick them off on the counter (because they know the dutch need to over-commit at some stage to get goals).

It could be a game of chicken where neither side shows their cards until after half time. It could well be 0-0 at HT but it'll be a blood bath of goals in the 2nd half if that's the case...

Storm Alert is spot on, Holland v Portugal is too risky could go either way depending on which way the wind is blowing.

if portugal score 1st, i think the dutch will go dirty, get at least 1 red card, and bow out of the tournament being labelled a disgrace

Holland will know that a Germany win (odds on) and they simply have to win by 2 goals, which isn't exactly like turning up on the pitch having to put 10 past Spain, so cant see any reason for Holland not been fired up for this game, Huntelaar may prob start with Van Persie and i can see the Dutch running riot.
