it's h-2-h this compy too but for a 3 way tie (ie 3pts/each) then they've all beat each otehr haven't they....

That's correct. The scenario is Holland, Denmark and Portugal all finishing with 3 points so head to head doesn't come into play.

holland need at least a point tonight to go through... if they lose the best they can get is 3 Pts with a win V portugal in the last match
but they would lose out to Denmark who if are beaten by Germany , would also finish on 3 pts, but the Danes would go through having beaten the dutch 1-0.. its the head to head record that counts |

H2H first then goal difference, so would it not come down to goal difference if holland beat Portugal,as holland would be above Portugal on the H2h but below Denmark, but Denmark would have to be below Portugal on the H2H, does this make sense that it would therefore have to go to goal difference ?

Tie-breaking criteria If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:[39] higher number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question; superior goal difference in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points); higher number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points); superior goal difference in all the group matches; higher number of goals scored in all the group matches; position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system; fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament); drawing of lots. If two teams which have the same number of points, the same number of goals scored and conceded play their last group match against each other and are still equal at the end of that match, the ranking of the two teams in question is determined by a penalty shootout, provided no other teams within the group have the same number of points on completion of all group matches. Note: As all teams have a different UEFA national team coefficient, the last two tie-breakers (i.e. fair play conduct and drawing of lots) will never be applied in this tournament. |

If Holland loose & bt Portugal next game they have 3pts
If Denmark loose to germany they have 3pts Holland having bt Portugal leaves them on 3pts Hence we have a 3way tie as all teams have bt each other & it goes on GD, hence as I keep telling yous.......  |

why's there even a debate? if Germany win tonight are they really going to care if they beat the Danes in their final game knowing their greatest rivals will whimper out of the competition if Denmark get at least a draw against them?

then it comes down to goal difference and goals scored thats why holland need at least a point tonight to avoid that scenario, ( assuming the germans beat denmark and holland beats portugal ) |
