Is it looking more and more likely that Solskjaer will be taking over at Aston Villa. Possibly had his farewell match at Molde yesterday it looked like.

I have a large exposure on this market and have basically reached my limit.  imo the current price available here at this moment is laughable.

imo the price on Ole will get bigger as villa interview other candidates.

By the looks of it I'd say the interview process is over.  But these markets bring all kinds of twists and turns so I don't rule out anything.

Anyways I'd say Solskjaer looks pretty certain, I don't see why he and his wife would be meeting Molde's owner today unless it had something to do with his future.  And if Faulkner is over in Norway as well then it doesn't take much to put 2 and 2 together.

I get the feeling its Martinez.  They wanted him last year and there's no reason to think they still don't want him now.  Wigan and Whelan seem happy to let him move on.  Even if he was a legitimate candidate for Liverpool surely the reaction of supporters there turned him off and he's thought better of it.  At his age he can have another pit stop before making the jump to a top side and he looks like the type of man who understands this.

They've said all along they are looking for a young vibrant manager with attacking principles.  Really not a whole lot to look at in this mold.  Have to think AVB unlikely and I'm not sure Lambert is to vibrant.

If things get weird I wonder if Everton are going to sell Jelavic...
Report ShirleyKnot May 23, 2012 4:01 PM BST

Felt he needed to stick with Wigan and show some loyalty.  Timing seems better now.  I don't know fits the criteria perfectly and getting a few hints he has met with Lerner in the past week.

Those names are Tier 2/Tier 3 type candidates.  Probably got a half look before their cv's were tossed aside.

Martinez has shown his loyalty last year by staying with Wigan so if he wanted to move they would still love him, until their late amazing run at the end of the season they were certs to go down and they were struggling! I'm not sure what else Martinez can do with them with no investment!

He wants a big club move and I think now its a perfect time to move to a bigger club such as Villa but who knows what he's thinking.
Report Horangi. May 23, 2012 6:02 PM BST
Anybody else see the press conference yesterday with Lambert?  He got real edgy when the reporter asked him about Holt and then his future.  Very defensive and offered nothing to suggest he's definitely staying.  Don't know why some reports have surmised he's ruled out Villa after that.

Don't got a clue where this is heading now.
Report Horangi. May 23, 2012 6:07 PM BST

Report VillaDEMON May 23, 2012 6:13 PM BST

Report Horangi. May 23, 2012 6:47 PM BST
Martinez isn't exactly wanted, at least by supporters, by the top teams anywhere in the world.  A jump to a upper level team is all he can really ask for imo.

I find the possibility of AVB heading to Villa not implausible.  Agent keeps talking about a long term project, like he really wants to make sure he avoids a Chelsea type situation again.  With him being so young its not a bad idea to take a job where you'll have better assurances you'll have the time necessary to implement your program.  If successful in 3-4 years he could handpick what club to go to.

And Villa coming off a disastrous season, expectations so low.  Good situation to jump into.

He's not gonna get much bigger than the Villa job is he unless he's waiting for a club like Barca, Man U, Milan etc to come in for him and they aint gonna take him from Wigan, he needs to step up a level and Villa would be a massive step up!

You can't look at the current league standings and make a judgment, Villa are a massive club! I can't see him rejecting this opportunity again to be honest! He showed his loyalty last time but even he surely knows he can't take Wigan any further.....time to step up to the next level!
