anyway good news re soskjaer
hopefully martinez sees sense and uses villa as his next club. |

I don't think you are listening to what I'm saying? You are still missing the point.
Say they have a list of 10 for arguments sake. Say it went as follows: 1. Mourinho 2. Guardiola 3. Klopp 4. Simeone 5. Bielsa 6. Schaff 7. AVB 8. Deschamps 9. Rodgers 10. Martinez What do they do if the first six say no? Change the look for a young Manager and start looking at the likes of Capello, Redknapp etc? It's not fair to slag them off until we know what is happening. |
By:
we know they have a list but why was martinez and rodgers on there?
truly bizzare. they in no way fit the criteria of nay side who want to challenge for a champions league place. they can have their vision but the downside risk increases when you start thinking of employing those types. simeone deserves to be on the list if he is on it. |

Anyone who thinks Simeone would come to Liverpool needs his double tested

I think it would be negligent for any Premier League club needing a manager not to speak to either of them Jockey - throw Lambert in there as well.
None of them may ever make it right to the top or have the necessary skills to manage a club with massive expectations (time will tell), but taking it to the extreme, Fergie, Wenger and even people like Redknapp and Moyes all started their careers at lesser clubs before being given a chance in their respective top divisions. Both Rodgers and Lambert managed to finish within half a dozen points of Liverpool, with sides that I'd wager had a third of Liverpool's wage bill. |
By:
And Martinez or Rodgers may be the best available candidates. We are, at best, the 6th best team in a very competitive league, with fans and a media base, with ludicrous expectations. The new man will be following the most popular figure at the club, possibly, of all time, and instead of their other recent hero. We probably have a limited budget and will be pouring millions into a new stadium in the foreseeable future. Our current squad is weak.
If I were an up and coming Manager on the continent, I don't think we would be my first pick. |
By:
Erm, the European Champions are the 6th best team in the league. The five elite clubs finished above them.

I knew I'd get you there

![]() I just assumed you were p*ssed, when talking about a new stadium etc. Surely you've already built a stand or two, with that £49m in the Accounts ??? On a serious note, a lawyer I use once told me that one of the biggest regrets of the Newcastle hierarchy was that they didn't allow Keegan to fail properly second time around. The theory being had they done so, there wouldn't have been the outrage when he went and significant ill feeling that followed. FSG may well have that to face, and are obviously prepared to ride it out. I'd see that as a positive, that they have taken the big decision - not that it will help the new man in the short-term of course. |

i do think AVBs silence on the whole matter has been quite telling. Normally an out of work manager like himself would be openly saying he would like the gig but he has been very coy sbout the whole thing. Im sure he's probably already met with the owners and they have agreed to not mention anything until everything is organised.
By:
AVB seems the logical choice...winning more than 80% at Porto he hasnt become a bad manager since...just was unfortunate to manage a team with the likes of Terry and fat Frank...AVB by this time next week imo.

The confusing thing from a betting perspective is how true the rumours are of us going for a DoF and a Manager. Bielsa could be more suited to the former if the offer is right?
By:
Bielsa is available at 80. Which strikes me as being about right.
By:
Think bielsa would be one of the fans choices. As his sides play very high tempo , pressing football. Avb agent said he wants a stable club. Is Liverpool that club??
By:
I agree that Bielsa is an excellent manager, he just won't be Liverpool's.
By:
At the interview,do they have to remove hubcaps and scarper in a given time ?
Scallywags. |
By:
Unlikely to be Bielsa unless he's got a good interpreter to come with him, as he can barely speak any English. Then again neither can Carragher.
By:
bielsa again.
like avb is not going to get gerrard to change their ways. i wouldnt mind him but then simeone put him firmly in his place recently 0simeone on the other hand had the tactical nouse to re jog the side to allow a gerarrd . some of us are a little bit observant ![]() |
