I have to interject. I am Span-glish. My local team is Villareal, and every week we have banners for Celtic. I was recently at Villareal vs. Racing Santander. Naturally, from this country, I am also Catholic.
Yet, because of my "Span-glish" accent, on a train prior to an Old Firm game, just near to Peterborough, I was push, shoved, "sang at", and spat at, by 3 Celtic fans. They were from London, and travelling with 2 kids, one around 5-ish, the other around 13. He spoke to me to apologise for his "parents/co-travellers" language and abuse. I honestly felt moved to tears. The lad had clearly been brought up in England and had an English accent (probably "second generation"). I hope someone gives him a break in life. Sadly the abuse was not solely at me, and transgressed to racism and nationalities. They were taken off at Motherwell. I ACCEPT it is not reflective of the entire Celtic Support. I have never had interactions with Rangers supporters to counter balance anything either. My point is that I do not want that on trains for my kids, least of all in English football. I am told by friends who support Old Firm clubs, that "I don't get it". Well, what is there "to get". I had a lovely time at Villareal v Santander. Despite dodgy time keeping, sat next to Racing fans and surrounded by families. Go home and eat paella, watching evening games. Thats what I want from football. Seeing the Seville story on BBC is one thing, but I can tell you Celtic fans were also using the fountain as a urinal. Widely broadcast on TV. We found it funny because for every 1 person that used it as a toilet, another 5 were dancing in it. Repeats of this can be found on a Spanish version of "Ooops TV". Admittedly, it was taken in humour and jokes rather than serious nature. If it wasn't for a UEFA Final, there is a fine usually applied. |

Celtic and Rangers fans should both take note imo. History maker, if you had grown up being knocked backed for jobs because the word Saint appeared in front of your school you'd maybe feel different about it and would doubtless resent being tarred with the same brush as the monster that created you. There is also a political aspect to the Celtic Rangers thing. The Celtic support are primarily socialist while Ibrox is the number one recruiting point in Scotland for the BNP as well as being the bedrock of working class conservatism in Scotland. Thankfully many of them have moved on these days but I often wonder how they reconcile supporting Rangers with their socialist ideals. A bit like Brother Alias with his masonic socialism. |

McCoist's insinuation that the SFA had drawn the independent panel from somewhere other than the usual masonic / orange circles (unlikely beyond the token uncle tom imo) is way in excess of anything NL's said. In dishing out such a lenient penalty the panel probably believed they were doing exactly that and the OTT reaction doesn't make it any less lenient.

There's a perception amongst socialists that they are 'the goodies' in that they think they are both right and morally superior, whilst conservatives just tend to think that they're right, although the hard right can just descend into outright bigotry and hatred. Incidentally, if you ever go to Hamburg try to make it to a St. Pauli game. It has the most distinctive fanbase of anywhere I've ever been - fiercely egalitarian socio-anarchism, or something roughly like it. |

At the beginning of this season I paid £5 to watch a Huns vs JTs match on Huns TV,broadcast live, as was the match on Sky,in the expectation that the picture quality would be better than watching a free stream(which it was).The Huns haven't repeated this procedure,maybe for contractual reasons but that's bye the way.Anyway,I bookmarked the Huns page through which I paid my fiver.Despite repeated attempts I have been unable to delete this page from my bookmarks list.Don't have any problems with removing other sites.Is this an omen that the Huns will never be deleted?I hope not
 .Meanwhile,now that they have my email address I get sent offers.The latest was to buy the replica home kit for the 2012-2013 season.Dream on boys. |
