Replies: 6835 27 Mar 12 17:21 If you removed all penalties in games involving Rangers and / or Celtic from last season then Celtic would've been clear winners of the SPL. It's one thing getting 3 penalties in a game you win 9-0, it's quite another getting 1 in a game you win 2-1... Would Celtic also have won the league if both they and Rangers had scored all the penalties they were awarded in SPL matches that season? If so, have you considered the possibility that Rangers simply had a better conversion rate than Celtic from the penalties they were awarded in clutch situations that season? As opposed to Rangers having had a greater probability of being awarded a penalty in a tight match situation? If I recall correctly, Samaras missed an incorrectly awarded penalty late on in the final Old Firm SPL match at Ibrox that season. If Celtic had scored from that penalty they would almost certainly have won the league. |

If you can find any Celtic missed penalties in clutch situations beyond the one you mention let me know. Believe me, they're pretty sparse on the ground. There's at least one game where Rangers needed two penalties to win 2-1 to take the 3 points (away to Kilmarnock - the same Kilmarnock who conceded 3 goals to them in the first 6 minutes on the final day). Would Rangers have won this game against Celtic without this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zsVTaGTENE |

stewarty b 28 Mar 12 14:50 Aye shudacuda, very poor taste. You two really are scraping the barrel. |

Like I said before, football is not Feck's forte. Wakey wakey Feck, the flat starts on saturday.
As for the Titanic comment...... |

At least there's a barrel to scrape. Whereas the divi flats is so old hat now.

No idea if it's true (just like those spouting the so called Celtic record have no idea) but, if it is, it shows biscuit's quote to be false. I also suspect the Celtic totals include cup games (Celtic did play more cup games than Rangers) whereas Cardiff were league only. |

If you 2 are scraping the barrel you are out of luck Feck has scraped right through trying to escape as its always his turn in the barrel and this is why he is such a grump.

Sadly stewarty, this is not about football. |

Cardiff got 16 penalties during the 2008-09 season.

I can list them all too if you like Feck. Where's that 5k?

2-1 based on the final score. In truth, I don't know whether or not Rangers would have won that game if that penalty hadn't been awarded. The same applies to all, or almost all, the tight matches in which Rangers or Celtic were awarded penalties last season. Stating that Celtic would have won the league if all penalties were wiped is meaningless and it certainly doesn't indicate any bias against them. In itself, it doesn't even suggest that Celtic were awarded any less penalties than Rangers in clutch situations that season. |

At no time did I say my point indicated a bias against them. Surely it was the "record number of penalties" mob that were claiming their figures indicated the contrary. My point merely ridiculed their claim. |

Eh??? You'll have to enlighten me Feck, what is this thread about???? It all started off with Neil Lennon and the old firm match, but it's not about football??? |
|
By:
And the last time I looked, Man City were a football team..
|

It's about sectarianism within the SFA.

Would this be the same Kilmarnock who capitulated a few months ago when 3-0 up with 18 mins to go and conceded 3 late goals to Celtic and save Lennons job? |

I can't believe you get involved in these threads Feck. If you really think it's about sectarianism, let it go. It works both ways, as you are well aware. Get back to tweaking your fully automated system and PM me your nap every day. I promise not to lump on until given the nod. |

This is getting ridiculous,
How many more titles would rangers have won if they signed catholics before souness started doing it in 1980's. How many more would celtic have won if (english clubs had not be banned from europe) rangers wouldn't have got all the top english players. How many titles would aberdeen have won if fergie had stayed for another ten years? Where do we draw the line,I could go on and on. |
|
By:
UEFA has been infiltrated by the SFA.
Celtic just been fined 21k for their fans behaviour in Udenise. Another conspiracy? |
|

If you really think it's about sectarianism, let it go. It works both ways, as you are well aware.
If the SFA, referees and referees committee was dominated by Celtic supporters it probably would all work in reverse. I don't think tim officials (answerable only to a refs committee made up mainly of tims) would be any less biased than hun refs are under the current setup. Yet, if those who are at odds with me on this thread are to be believed, none of them think there would be any change at all. It would just be fair refereeing all the way. Naive or what? |
|
By:
FECK its funny how you are the only one that spews sectarian nonsense on this thread.
Does that tell you something? |
|
By:
Having Scottish football run by orangemen is and has been a recipe for disaster. I do not consider having such an opinion to be sectarian. If I thought having the KKK officiate the great white hope v the great black hope would that make me a racist?
Anyway, I've got to go out to sell more pegs. Have a good evening. |

its a worthless SPL trophey this year anyway
lennon failed in europe, twice failed in league cup handed league only title he can win on own merit is scottish cup....and they are lucky to be there after being outplayed by a first division side. Lennon simply has to deliver in europe next season or even the blind deluded fans will turn on him |
