6/4 Southend

2/1 Crawley

9/4 Draw

3rd placed Southend v 6th placed Crawley

Team news for Monday's League Two clash between Southend and Crawley at Roots Hall.

Paul Sturrock must decide whether to recall Liam Dickinson, Kane Ferdinand, Ryan Hall or Bilel Mohsni for Southend's crunch clash.

The quartet were omitted from Sturrock's matchday squad for Saturday's 2-0 triumph at Burton and it remains to be seen whether they will come into contention on Monday.

Dickinson, Ferdinand and Hall were punished for breaching club discipline procedures in the team hotel the night before last weekend's defeat at Morecambe, while the conduct of winger Mohsni was also once again in the spotlight following his behaviour at the Globe Arena.

Mohsni returned to France last week due to a family matter while he also claimed to be nursing a toe problem.

Sturrock could opt to keep faith with the same XI who triumphed at the Pirelli Stadium, ending a run of back-to-back defeats.

Goalkeeper Glenn Morris (thigh) and midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala (knee) will again miss out, meaning loan signing Cameron Belford and Anthony Grant will continue as will Lee Hills following his weekend his debut at left-back.

Meanwhile, Kyle McFadzean is doubtful for Crawley's trip.

The defender limped out of Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Torquay with a knee injury.

Warren ****s replaced McFadzean for his debut after joining on loan from Bournemouth on Friday, but Claude Davis could step in at Roots Hall after missing out against the Gulls following a long trip home from international duty with Jamaica.

Colchester loanee Lloyd James continues at right-back with David Hunt still recovering from the broken foot he suffered against Stoke in the FA Cup.

Scott Shearer is still out with a knee injury so Rene Gilmartin keeps his place in goal.

Striker Karl Hawley is pushing to return to the squad after missing out on Saturday.

Gonna have medium stakes on Southend here, incentive to go 2nd, home advantage and Crawley have been gash recently

Both sides slightly off the boil on recent form, last 8 matches producing
7 points for Southend and 10 for the visitors. On the season Crawley 3 pts
behind, with 3 games in hand, goal diff practically the same, so the main
thing to separate them is ground advantage making Southend favourite. A
hard call IMO.

dont agree kenilworth, you're looking at the season, much has changed in last couple of months -  I reckon Southend will be 2.5 or lower by kick off, ie Crawley no wins in 4, 2 wins in 10, no away league win since last november ! - their fans think they ar awful at the moment - 2 best players Tubbs & Barnett gone - Sturrock lots of options & hes da man

I am laying with a steak of biblical proportions. There is no doubt about the result and I am wading in fearlessly. This match is a welcome gift from above and the certintude is 100%.

Of course as, usual, make up your own minds, but there really is no doubt, NO DOUBT AT ALL.

No need to thank me later, because I believe in goodwill to mankind. (Well, that is not strictly true, but anyway!)

laying who.....? and with those cap locks on Slicer you may just convince yourself !

there is certainly a doubt in the result, but less so in the way the market will go I think, ie a lay of creepy crawley

Dodgy one for betting purposes. Don't think Crawley have been that bad lately, they were certainly the better side away to Shrewsbury last week despite losing.

southend have been pretty cra p themselves recently so that puts me off, id say lay crawley not back home side just in case.

Were Crawley unlucky when we saw them seemingly outplay Shrewsbury last week. I thought at the time they were.... but the home defeat against Torquay suggests that maybe they weren't.

I backed them last monday evening and after that game I'd promised myself I'd do them again tonight.

I think Crawley are still a fair side going through a lean spell. If they hit 2/1 I'll probably play

crawley are still big, tough and organised but without tubbs and barnett are desperate for goals, and v low on confidence - I can't see how you could back them to win as they haven't won on the roard since november and from my experience at argyle I know luggy will have southend right up for it tonite

There is such a word as certintude! I invented it. I posted it on this thread therefore it exists and even more therefore there is such a word. There never used to be a word such as google and now look at it!

I hope this enhances your edumacation and clarifies the matter.

slicer mate, calm down and get a grip, you still haven't told us who you're laying ! and remember, the belief that people take more notice of you when you put the cap locks on, is like the belief in the tooth fairy, or santy claus, ie not real

Mr Billy- I accept your apologgeffergies.

Mr Army-are you trying to tell me that there is no tooth fairy and no santy claus? Next thing is you will be trying to tell me that there is no Easter Bunny and that is is possible to make a prophet on BetFair!

recent form AND full season form.

yeah well I thought I would ignore that as you got your facts wrong, its 10 points for saafend not crawley, and as it happens its gone the other way for now, makes you wonder what sort of person would take such a leap of faith to back crawley when most factors are against them ie they cant score and havent won away since november - same happened with pompey on saturday

Probably a lay of Crawley IF I was going to have a bet.

Tough fixture list tonight, Levante v Betis another tough game.

I thought Crawley looked ok at Shrewsbury last time out despite the result.
By:

green army, here are correct stats.
Southend (season) 62 from 34
(last 8 league matches) 10

Crawley (season) 56 from 31
(last 8 league matches)

As far I'm concerned there is nothing between
them, except ground advantage making Southend
favourites. A hard call. GL

Crawley did look good and were unlucky not to win a Shrewsbury, but they were bad in their latest loss at home to Torquay. They also  have a few players struggling to be fit.

Southend coming off good away win with no new injury worries and strong home form. Can't be having Crawley as favourites, will wait to see if they come in further and then lay them. Reckon it will probably finish a draw or home win.

When: 05 Mar 12 17:23
rumour is saafend's emergency keeper didn't make it on loan and luggy's in goal, while he will fill the space well in between the posts his mobility is a weee rusty - seriously the only factor I can think of is that its blowing an absolute hooly here (I live quite nearby) and maybe that will suit the giants ? tho when I played it was best to keep it on the deck in these conditions

Just layed Crawley at 2.6 !!!! a nice bit of value - how are they clear favourites now? Southend higher up in table and at home too - also Crawley sold their top striker which helped to get them so high up the table.
