Think they just wanted to make it up to 20 with that list

Redknapp looks good to me there. There are only 5 or 6 on the list that would not have everyone seething if they were chosen .Ferguson,Wenger and Guardiola surely won't go mear it and maybe a saver on Mourinho . Hiddink maybe a bit past it, Turkey were awful in qualifiers

THE FA NORMALLY GO FOR A YES MAN THAT WILL TOW THE LINE, ROY KEANE WOULD FIT THAT KIND OF PROFILE.

Mourinho seems a decent bet at those odds.

If he leaves Madrid i could see him signing a 4 year deal, taking them to Brazil, walking out after 2

One thing i think likely is that he will make it known through his contacts that he will consider it (even if he isn't, just to keep himself in the limelight and piss off people in Madrid) so unless it is sorted quickly i expect he'll be dow n to well under 10/1

First things first: the market rules

It looks like the only way Betfair wouldn't settle on the guy who picks the team for the first Euro 2012 game would be if that person was described as a temporary / interim manager AND the FA had also appointed a permanent manager (starting autumn 2012) by that point. There is no way the market can run past mid-June. Have I read that right ?

I'm thinking someone to do just the Euros initially would be the most sensible appointment but then this is the FA so maybe bet the opposite
By:

1.Subject to paragraph 2, an appointment described by the English FA as ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ or similar, including an appointment limited to the build-up and/or the duration of the UEFA Euro 2012 Tournament, will not constitute national coach.

2. Notwithstanding paragraph 1, if the English FA do not appoint the next national coach before England’s Euro 2012 game against France on 11 June 2012, Betfair will settle this market on the person who is responsible for picking the English National Team against France on 11 June 2012, even if that person has been appointed by the English FA on an ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ or similar basis, including an appointment limited to the build-up and/or the duration of the UEFA Euro 2012 Tournament. However, in the circumstances described in this paragraph 2, if England’s Euro 2012 game against France scheduled for 11 June 2012 is postponed by more than 3 days, all bets on this market will be void.

3. The actual duration of the national coach’s contract will not be relevant for the purpose of this market.

They will settle on whoever picks the team v France unless they have already chosen someone to take over after the Euros

So the only way that would arise would be if they said Pearce will take charge for the Euros only, then Harry takes over in August.

I can't see how they would go into a major tournament with a caretaker who has already been ruled out long term.

Yeah seems unlikely that para 1 will apply - only exception I can think of would be if the long term target is unavailable in June (i.e. he currently manages one of the other qualifiers - probably with his contract coming to an end and other teams interested)

Is there any reason why a currently employed manager such as Redknapp couldn't do the Euros and then go back to the day job ?
By:
tobermory
When: 09 Feb 12 23:20
Could do that yeah. If he made it clear he was only doing the Euros he'd be settled as a loser

spurs are certainly not gonna agree to letting arry do the euros to see if he fancies it on permanent basis.

need to know whether we need another manager by may not august
By:

When: 10 Feb 12 00:34
Actually what i said at 23:20 is rubbish.

Even if the manager for the France game is a caretaker , he would be the winner , unless they had appointed someone to be permanent manager after the Euros .

Can Spurs take out an injunction to prevent the FA from talking to Harry? They can do so against other clubs. Leaving aside what is likely to happen, as a Spurs and Redknapp fan, I would prefer him to stay put but also think his health could prevent him from doing either job for much longer. The total silence and stony face from Sir Trevor Brooking yesterday suggests that the FA have not learned to consult with ex-players in all this. The suits still don't believe that ex or current players have a view.

I don't understand the price here. Redknapp has already stated that he'd like to manage England one day. I doubt he'd get another chance. Most Spurs fans have already accepted that he's a goner. He's a shoe in.

Boring market. People will be looking to find reasons to lay Harry but its the worlds worst kept secret, he wants the job, they want him, just about crossing the i's and dotting the t's. Harry knows he is over achieving at Spurs so this is the perfect time to leave for an early retirement.

If they are going to pick a permanent manager then surely it has to be before season ends so he can have a look at a few players that may interest him, otherwise its going to be same old faces

I've just been taking a look at those who are stacked up behind Harry in the market.

Stuart Pearce - Tactically inept.
Guus Hiddink - Foreign.
Roy Hodgson - No comment.
Jose Mourinho - Foreign.
Martin O'Neill - Foreign.
Alan Pardew - Laughably ruled himself out. Thanks for that!
Arsene Wenger - Foreign.
Gareth Southgate - LaughLaughLaugh
Tony Pulis - Should be 1000.
Rafa Benitez - Foreign.
Carlo Ancelloti - Foreign.
David Moyes - Foreign.
Pep Gaurdiola - Foreign.
Brendan Rogers - Foreign.
Alan Shearer - Dull.

If you rule out another foreigner then the competition is very weak. Redknapp should just take the job now.
