Glasgow Celtic will meet Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon on July 21 at Boston’s Historic Fenway Park. This will be the 19th soccer match played at Fenway and the first since 1968. Buy Celtic v Sporting Lisbon Tickets.
“During its 98-year history, Fenway Park has been privileged to witness some of the best in athletic competition, not only in baseball, but in football, boxing and most recently in hockey with the 2010 NHL Winter Classic. This match is a tremendous opportunity to highlight some of the top talent in the soccer world, and we want to thank Celtic F.C. and Sporting C.P. for bringing the sport here for the first time in over 40 years,” said Sam Kennedy, EVP/COO of the Boston Red Sox and President of Fenway Sports Group. “As the world celebrates football with the 2010 World Cup, the Fenway Football Challenge will provide New Englanders the opportunity to witness two international clubs – each with a rich heritage and a passionate regional fan base.” Not many teams could attract a crowd like that too Boston were football is as popular as mud wrestling for a "soccer" game, and certainly not WBA as you suggested ![]() |

Well I am only going with what Gary Liniker said, We were sent up here to cover a celtic and rangers match and we expected to be the only TV station here, how wrong were we. We have been placed in a small room here because there are TV cameras for 55 countries from around the world and we have never saw anything like it. That show me that Celtic games have more appeal than any club game i know. I dont know of another club match that has that much coverage.

Yip and West Brom sold out their games over there. Says it all.

big deal if we go into admin....lose 10 points and give Celtic the league(which theyll win anyway!)
Come back debt free and carry on next year. We wont be kicked out of the league because the TV companies will pull their cash. To sum up......Celtic need Rangers need Celtic!! |

Not a West Brom fan in the slightest lad.

Liquidation will only result in Celtic and everyone else going bust!!
By:
ok we will just shut the doors next season

Gerbs you are correct Celtic need rangers and rangers need celtic, in the war years rangers through a match to stop celtic going down, celtics billionaire owners would get a personal loan to rangers rather than let them go down

By:
the SPL vote system has been **** in previous years by celtic and rangers so that you need 83% of the vote to change anything
that will come back to bite rangers on the rse it only needs 2 team voting against new rangers re entry and they wont get in |
By:
The league would lose its TV contract if Rangers were no there so of course teams would vote them in if it came to that.
By:
its hard to know were Scottish football will go if rangers go bust, The smaller teams need rangers more than Celtic, I personally dont think rangers will disappear into oblivion but they will struggle for a couple of years no doubt, only time will tell
By:
they wouldnt lose the contract it would be reduced
the team due to be relegated mad vlad at hearts and celtic supporters are already starting a campaign for a no vote |
By:
It said in the reports at the time that a condition of the new TV contract was that both sides of the Old Firm were in the league.

Im sick of the tax man, if the government can let Vodaphone of will £600 million then clubs ought to be let off, for the simple reason clubs are community based and mean a lot to people who support them and pay their tax.
So if the tax man forces football clubs out the game then we should demand that all companies that owe tax should pay up and not company should be let off. |
By:
why should a team who will have been found to have been getting players to come to them by paying them £24 million instead of paying it to the taxman just get to wipe it all off not pay it and start again as if nothing had happened
does anyone think they would have won those 5 titles during that time without those players that were paid tax free it was murrays determenation to stop celtic at any cost and fecked up the rest of scotish football by having the other teams spend money to try and compete with them when it now comes out he only got those players because they werent paying tax on there wages |
By:
rangers fans are clutching at straws by claiming we need them and this will somehow save them, it wont. i cant see Celtic in any shape or form lending a hand to save them, fans for a start simply wont let it happen. When Celtic were on their ar se back in the 80s I dont think Rangers did much to help us out.
By:
try filling parkhead and selling 60, 000 tickets to see hearts nor beat motherwell to the title, Rangers are Half of celtics business, and celtic money men will get a loan to rangers, perhaps by guaranteeing a loan, Rangers would do the same. its business.
Rangers games are big money for celtic and likewise for rangers. |

And now we know why he was able to spend so much. Sir Minty Moonbeam was the worst thing to happen Scottish football and has single handly ruined the game up here. C unt should be in prison. |

By:
Johnny he is not there anymore, truthfully imagine next year, no rangers and you are playing Hearts as your biggest game or killie. it would kill scottissh football if rangers went to the wall
By:
Who gives a flying fook if Rankers go to the wall. It would be tremendous to rid us all of that vermon. There will still be a Celtic FC and an SPL. People come on here spouting shiote about TV money. We get very little from Sky.
By:
Johnny trust me, the celtic board will never allow it to happen, you know rangers through a game to keep celtic up.
celtic is a business and they will not lose a money making product such as rangers to go, kille ok hearts ok rangers, it wont happen, And i have to agree celtic and rangers together are stuck with each other celtic on their own would not generate enough cash and would be another 10 bob team suvch as the rest ooutwith the old firm, it will never happen. |
By:
the new rangers should start in the third div like any other new team, and if they make it back to the SPL in 3 years thats fair enough
they cannot be seen to be the old rangers or the tax man will come after that club for the money the old rangers will still owe them so why should a new team just starting up get straight into the SPL it wont matter any way as the way whyte is going about it there will be nothing left to re start with tickitus will probably own ibrox and murray park and the players will all be free agents |
By:
joe why would we give money to a club that could be out of business very shortly. rangers have to repay 70 odd million to creditors if/when the lose the tax case, It doesnt make sense to throw good money after bad.
And Kirsken is right, we get fook all of tv money that wont make a difference to Celtics survival, the money is in the champions league. |
By:
It will never happen ffs, the orange lodge would do sponsored walk to keep them in business, the queen will sell the crown jewels, the scottish government will bring in a save rangers tax
By:
no one can be seen to help tax dodgers
By:
Somewhere their will be a man wearing an apron who has billions, and will step in to save them, No establishment team ever goes to the wall
By:
Its the Queens HMRC that's goin to put them to the wall, she needs a new yacht, Oh the Irony
