its not what I believe its fact. One of the biggest supports in the world. Remember when Fergus came in and there was a share issue to save the club, we raised over 55 million, rangers have had two share issues and raised 11 million, nuff said really.
|
|
By:
I wouldnt lose any sleep over Rangers going under. Their fans are more interested in Northern Ireland and the Queen of England than being Scottish.
|
|

There was a study done last year of the most supported clubs in europe and Celtic were not even in the top twenty.
The TV contracts that Scottish football is attracting would show you there is not a global interest in any Scottish club. |
|
By:
Jamdave if I have to explain why Celtic have a Global appeal you dont have a clue mate, there is areason Celtic fill stadiums in Boston, new York Australia etc...
Celtic have one of the biggest supports around the world. |
|
By:
and a study i seen went something like this
Manchester United FC (England) Chelsea FC (England) AC Milan (Italy) Inter Milan (Italy) FC Bayern Munich (Germany) Real Madrid (Spain) FC Barcelona (Spain) Ajax (Holland) Celtic FC (Scotland) Olympiacos (Greece) |
|
By:
Who were they playing in those stadiums? I am sure West Brom filled stadiums there last summer as well.
If Celtic are such a global club where is the revenue from shirts sales etc? Where is the interest in watching them outside of Scotland? Why are studies showing them not to even be one of the top twenty supported clubs in europe? |
|
By:
another deluded comment from johnny the dim.
|

Post a link to that study johnny.
Heres the one from recently - http://www.football-marketing.com/2010/09/09/fc-barcelona-most-popular-football-club-in-europe/ |

Celtic have at least 10 million supporters world wide, ya reckon West Brom do????
Longchamps your wont have any support cause your club wont be around much longer ![]() ![]() ![]() |

At least 10 million world wide? Where do you get that figure from?
The facts are there in revenue and TV contracts that there is NOT a global interest in Celtic to any great extent. |
|
By:
JamDav1982 you can post all the surveys, market researches you like mate, I will find ones like the list there with Celtic in them too
|
|
By:

Seriously if you think Celtic dont have support in every corner of the world ya havnt a clue, even more deluded than that cretin longchump![]() |
|
By:
Post a link then johnny.
Market Research is easy to dismiss but the survey of over 10,000 people across europe showed celtic not to be anywhere near one of the biggest clubs. So if its not in europe where is this 10 million fanbase? |
|
By:
I cant be bothered lookin for links, I know for a fact what Celtics support is, 90,000 turned up in Seville for a game and we left it the way we found not like Manchester
![]() |
|
By:
90,000 turned up as it was such a once in a life time thing to get to a european final.
If someone like Aberdeen got to a european final they would take tens of thousands it means little. There is not one fact that supports Celtic being a global club. All the evidence points to the opposite. |
|
By:
90.000
![]() ![]() ![]() doesnt quite match the 250.000 that went to manchester on record as being the biggest travelling away support in footballs history since the game was invented. SIMPLY THE BEST. |

By:
http://www.the-top-tens.com/lists/best-football-soccer-club.asp that says 22nd
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/865275-manchester-united-and-15-best-supported-clubs-in-world-football/page/4 that says 13th wiki answers says 9th. I dont pay much heed to these list to be honest. |

Johnny what terrible links -
First one has an Indonesian team as number one!!! Second one from Bleacher report which is more or less a blog that anyone can write up on. Also this one is based on home attendances and nothing to do with global appeal of clubs. |
|
By:
ye simply the best longchamps..ask the people of manchester..its a known fact that rangers fans were simply the best hooligans, yobs,,hoods and thugs in manchester..
|
|
By:
JamDav1982 when our team turned up to play in Boston, Australia and filled the stadiums with our supporters thats what I base our support not some random survey. As I said you can pull all the links you like up they mean fook all to me.
|
|
By:
Johnny its not a random survey. Its a survey of over 10k people across europe that is used to draw reasonable conclusions.
Celtic are no great shakes in terms of support in the USA dont delude yourself. |
|
By:
according to 442 magazine and uefa.com the top five in each are as follows
Supporters clubs Glasgow Celtic Glasgow Rangers Juventus Turin Liverpool Barcelona Replica Shirt Sales Barcelona Real Madrid Chelsea Manchester United Liverpool Matchday Attendances Borrussia Dortmund Flamengo Fenherbahce Manchester United Glasgow Celtic (where is Barca and Madrid?) and according to a survey in the times newspaper 2006 Man United Real Madrid Celtic Liverpool Barcelona Arsenal Chelsea (BBC site said fan base increased by 18 million last year alone) AC Milan Juventus Bayern Munich Again conflicting answers, we can go around in circles on who has a bigger world wide support they really can be noe way of knowing, but I stand by my claim that we have one the biggest supports in the world, One of the biggest factors is the Irish Connection, and less face it there are Irish everywhere. |

In New york alone there must be at least 10 supporter clubs. |
|
By:
Wow must be a massive support in New York then!!
Those lists have posted dont even make sense johnny, what even is the bottom list of teams? |
|

jam dav when johnny says global he really means dublin and donegal. just so there is no misunderstanding.

JamDav1982 your obviously hurting so as I said there is no way of proving how many supporters there are, you have shown me one survey done by whomever, and I have told you why we have supporters all around the world so there really is no point in going around in circles.
Anyway this is a rangers goin out of business thread not how many supporters Celtic have ![]() |
|
By:
Nothing you have showed me proves that Celtic have supporters all over the world.
Clubs try to become world wide tv contracts and shirt sales etc. Neither of which point to Celtic having a global appeal. |
|
By:
YAAAAAAAWN, as i said goin around in circles. I have seen Celtic fill stadiums around the world with my own eyes so I don't need to see some survey thanks.
|
|
By:
Filling stadiums for friendlies in the US has been done by many clubs.
The fact is that if Celtic had a big global fanbase as you suggest it would be evident in TV contracts, shirt sales etc. It isnt. |
