Slight setback tonight, just when I was approaching the £525 target. In the Mirandes game, had laid the draw. Mrs JOCI Club and I were watching a bit of TV and I go back to check and it's 0-1 so I go to green out, just as Mirandes equalise. No further goal action until late into the 80s, so I cash out at a loss, only to find Mirandes get a 92nd minute winner. Sad

Slight down on the day.

for the 1st time since being on betfair im going to have a go at laying the draw, but not starting til possibly thurs when i can put at least some funds into account.Dunno how long itd take to build substantial amount from a tenner! sorry it isn't really in the sirit of 1.02's tho some of the lay draws may end up the equivalent of a 1.02 if i take small profit margins.

Sorry lads for the perhaps  stupid question but everyone needs to learn sometime. I myself have been dabbling with the all in under 6.5 goals for a month or so and always seem to lose that odd crippling game.

My question is for JOCI Club or anyone for that matter. I now understand the concept of greening out (a concept alien to me as in the old days betfair wouldnt let you back and lay against the same thing) I hope i am right here? but when you post "To Trade" if indeed, the game is looking like a draw do you mean you then back the draw to cover the lay?

If so please provide a scenario for me i would be grateful as your systems seem interesting.

Thanks guys

Dan

Dan - the principle is to lay the draw at 0-0, wait for a goal, then back the draw at a higher price so you win whatever the outcome.

You do also have the option to 'red out' if the game looks likely to end in a draw, and take a certain loss which will be lower than your original exposure.

Dan,

I will use tonight's Mallorca v Bilbao game as an example:

(1) at the start of the game whilst still 0-0, LAY the draw e.g. lay the draw at 3.5 for £10.00 giving you a liability of £25.00

(2) it was looking grim for a while as it was still 0-0 after 75 mins and the draw 'back' price had come way down. I was getting close to cutting my losses and redding out at this point.

(3) there was a goal on 76 minutes to Bilbao, and after the suspend, the draw back price went up to 5.6, at which point I backed @ 5.6 for £6.00 which would give me a profit of £27.60 in the case of a draw.

(4) Outcome:

(a) if a draw my profit would be £27.60 - £25.00 = £2.60 (my win if a draw less my liability on the original lay)

(b) if not a draw my profit would be £10.00 - £6.00 = £4.00 (the original lay stake less the amount of the stake placed on the draw subsequently)

Therefore, I will either win £2.60 or £4.00, so green all round.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Joci I think I have grasped it!

My problem was getting my head around the fact of what would happen if it wasnt a draw, but then of course you have layed it in the first place!

One more thing please. what is the formula for working out how much to back once the goal goes in and the price moves?

i.e the 6 pound bet

sorry for being semi retarded and all

if i was doing it, danny, id just play around with figures, doesnt take long to make sure you are in profit all round, u can even do it without putting the bet on to see the 'green' side of all eventualities ie when game is in play.the only thing which causes danger really is either when a games 0-0 after 70 mins or the price doesnt move when the lesser fancied side goes a goal up.
By:

btw if u get scared and back 0-0 after 70 mins so u dont lose too much, u can then guarantee therell be a goal!
