Contrarian, the case of Rob is different. i belive most pandls posted here are genuine. there are the occasional posters who post only their profits but i still belive their figures to be true. I used to think the same about Rob the Bantams till yesterday.
Yesterday he posted a profit of 1000 or so before the Barca match and came after the barca match with a whooping 5000 more. Bang! i asked him how. it turned out he layed barca prekickoff. Surely if this is how he makes his 10000s clearly his losing runs should be quite long before he jumped into a winning bet. However Rob the Bantam he is always making thousands everyday. that is pretty hard to believe.

this is the clue as to why you are a losing punter.  All you can think about is Barca are certs etc etc with no consideration to the odds.  If you can't get your head around worrying about the result of one particular match and start thinking of a long term sample then the losing will continue long term.  With respect to yourself, what you posted here is a load of c rap

dlarssonf's- spoken like pro, must be a pro. or a bettor who understands basic meaning of odds.

It is surprising that many people don't understand the word odds and reasons behind it.

I won 600 pounds in barcelona match. I backed draw @10.5 for 1k. But never believed it is going to win. I did trading and ended up only 600 pounds instead of 10k possible. Possibly rob got bigger balls than me and didn't trade out.

He is pro and knows how to handle pressure. It is surprising that he went to bed and didn't play barcelona match. He would have won good money in it.

uk25- i can understand the maths ,that he has a greeast edge and he WILL win over the year etc ,but for me the swings would be too much .

Maybe it's because i've worked 40 hours for £350 a week out in the p1ssin rain of winter before now - so i see the value of smallish amounts too much , so the guilt would play too much of a part , - hats off to the Investor  though - very courageous betting

Tobermory put up some stats on Barca the other day , it worked out something like had you bet on Barca winning you would have broken even by now each season ...so the odds are pretty much on the button
By:
dlarssonf

I wouldn't say the odds are on the button, 8 matches played this season tells nothing at all really

Being honest Henok, I wasn't involved in the Barca match last night nor did I see it, I was involved in Juve/Genoa so if I was to answer your question it would be backfitting.

My point to you re the Barca match last night and your comments was this.   In any match you should have an idea on what the odds should be.  You need to forget the fact that you are convinced that Barca will win.  If you then come to the conclusion that Barca should be 1.1 to win and 1.14 was available then its a value ( albeit small ) back.  If you think barca should be 1.2 to win then its a lay.  Your bet should then be placed REGARDLESS of who you think will win.  Over a long term sample you will then be able to judge whether you can obtain value from your own odds verus the available odds.

I personally reckon ( maybe others can tell me ) that Barca were backed to short from people chasing after Liverpool failed to win and people like Rob took advantage.  I hope I have explained my thoughts well, anyhow this is how I operate.

henok - correct score and cs2 - also match odds and some unders -

my main problem has been too greater staking on correct score (two) markets ,5-1,6-1 etc esp when goals haven't materialised-notably Barcelona -not sure what's happened to them lately Shocked

they're good if they come off i must add - got a good couple of wins on them last season  ,but very often they never get there - it's more a case of how much do you pump into something that MIGHT work  before you change tack ?Happy

yes it is very emotional game. eventhough that is what i enjoy about it. picked about 4 or 5 games which were under 1.5  starting from the weekend which are very bad for me( directly opposite to my strategy)

Coping with the swings can be difficult. I wasn't in the mood for trading at all after the loss, and was half heartedly (but very carefully) doing bits and pieces. Back in action today, and hoping to put the loss behind me quickly.

Just lost £1k on the early Italian match though!

When I have a big loss, I tend to feel really drained, and feel its best to take some time off. The first time I experienced a really big loss was Feb '10 when I lost £18.5k on a match on Saturday. I took the rest of the day off, but made about £2k the following day. Looking at my PnL, I saw that part of the reason for making that much was really working hard and covering as much as possible, but the other part was due to not limiting my risk in relation to the size of the loss and the effect it had on my bank.

Then I took the entire week off Mon-Fri, and despite taking a week off in Feb, I ended the month down 'only' £7.3k, whilst taking on less risk.

Last two months I am doing well. It is due to the fact that I am having good run. I am not expecting to last this good run for ever. I had horrible jan, feb and march in which I lost -5.5k. So 3months in a row losing streak. It is tough to handle.

I should say, "If we all thought the same".

I got a bit put off by everton scoring, when typing.

Thanks for your very honest answer Investor - i can half begin to imagine  how you felt after that  loss last season - would have finished me off if i'm being truthful

sorry to hear about the loss this morning - better luck for the week ahead Happy

Regardless of what people say about me on here, I post losses as well as wins, so I'm not selective.

Shame he never posts a bet  pre off

I think rob needs to provide a screenshot, his credibility is now wafer thin.

Agreed

Contrarian – posting bets before the events would be better

Why come on here 'demanding' that someone posts up a bet before the event.

Don't you get it - this is a betting exchange. People are trying to take your money ..... some people do post up selections and bets others choose not to ... just accept it and concentrate on your own betting ....

for me Rob's worst moment was the other day when he claimed to make 10k on the horses. pure fantasist

Yet you had no problem accepting around a 4k loss on them the other day, paul.  Can't have it both ways.  Why would I post bets up pre off?  What possible motivation would I have for doing this?

to silence your ever growing group of doubters?
By:

He doesn't need to prove a thing to you Paulme - have you ever thought he may have got the nod for a particular horse and thought he'd thrown a bit on it - say a £1K on at nice odds .....

Or perhaps he layed a couple of runners at low odds - to collect a nice pay packet.

You don't know - I don't know - but to call him a fantasist is simply ridiculous. There was a football match this morning where a team came back from 0-3 down to win 4-3 .... some juicy odds were on offer which some astute people may have thrown a bit on them ...

I would suggest that to any doubters - simply concentrate on their backyard before questioning everyone that cares to post up a nice p&l ...
By:
Rob_The_Bantam

But my "group of doubters" aren't the people I'm interested in having a discussion with on here.  It's you and a few others who struggle to understand the concept of a betting exchange and constantly try to put winners down/pick holes in what they post to comfort yourself about losing money at gambling.

I think your reaction to me losing £31k was something along the lines of "that's more like it", which says it all about you, paul.  You like to see people losing as it makes you feel part of a group, presumably down to a lack of friends in real life or something.

Good luck with your bets today, whatever they may be (not sure if you've posted them pre off).
