He never actually said anything about wanting to leave the club, nor his reasons. That's all come from speculation based on the reason the clause was activated. I'd say the poor management by Vilanova was the main factor though, the lack of faith he had in Thiago(and other youth players) was disgraceful - for example playing Xavi on painkillers AFTER the league was won instead of playing Thiago.

As for where he fits in, aye that's a tough one alright. I'd guess Martínez will be moved to centre back seeing as Pep wanted him to play there when he tried to sign him for Barcelona. Guess the rest depends on formation, could be Schweinsteiger, Kroos and Thiago in the centre with Ribéry, Götze and Müller upfront? Not sure.

Why are Barca selling Thiago to the team that just destroyed them in the Champions League? Bayern are Barca's biggest threat in Europe for the next few seasons. Asking for trouble imo.

They had no choice, he had a release clause (Bayern paid more than it because it was beneficial to both clubs but either way Barcelona had no say). The stupid thing though was that Vilanova didn't care, or know, about the clause and criminally underused him so his buyout clause lowered from €90m to €30m.

I think this is absouloute suicide from barca in terms of champs lge concerned. I think this lad will be beter than xavi or iniesta as mad as that may sound

Certainly is a big call but I definitely agree that it's suicide from Barcelona.

He's pretty close to Xavi's current level already and he'll definitely overtake him within the next season or so, but being better than Xavi or Iniesta at their peaks is no easy task. Still think he's got a better chance of reaching their level than any other midfielder in the world though.

An absolutely superb player and a world star for the next 12 years or so. Bayern are extremely clever with their transfer policy. The likes of Gotze and Thiago coupled with some superb playera coming through their youth system could see them dominate European football for years to come.

Interesting interview today. He says:

Man Utd never talked to him about a move this summer, the Barcelona board didn't even bother trying to talk him out of a move, and also hinted that Real Madrid tried to sign him.
