That football predicting pig even picked more winners than McGovern, as for his jokes
"Vettel lost last weeks GP after a dodgy alternator, i doubt he will eat one again" Who finds this funny?

0 from 7 is not THAT unusual a sequence in my experience. I ran a thread
on the stats from the Euros, in which a pster pointed out that BTTS had
produced 9 wins in a row, in the first 13 matches which I acknowledged. At the end
of the 31 matches this was the sequence.WWLLWWWWWWWWWLWLLLWWLLLLLWLLLWL.
16 wins from 31 and these were odds on chances. In 31 matches there 9 from 9,3 from 3,
5 from 5,3 from 11, 11 from 13 ! Plenty of sequences that would test the resolve of most,
and that is backing odds on chances.

"16 wins from 31 and these were odds on chances"

BTTS was definitely not odds on in all those games. More often than not, BTTS was odds against.

Poland v Greece
Russia v Czech Rep
Spain v Italy
Ireland v Croatia
France v England
Greece v Czechs
Germany v Greece
Germany v Italy

were all odds against for BTTS

I stand corrected as my experience of BTTS was that it
was virtually always odds on BTS, between 1.6 and 1.8.
FWIW it doesn't affect the sequence of results.Sad

Just to address the supposed agenda against Scousers/Liverpool, I'm a Bradford fan, couldn't care less about Liverpool or whether this McGovern bloke supports them, but I think he's an absolutely shíte tipster.  I would say the same if he was a Bradford fan and was a blood relation of mine.

8 from 31. 23 odds on. OK.

Rob, he's not a tipster, he's a journalist.
I don't suppose he will too bothered not
being a one of your relatives.
By:

When: 11 Jul 12 17:05
No.

8 of the 16 in which both teams scored were odds against.

Germany v Greece was as high as 2.56 for btts

Plenty more were odds against that lost like all the Spain knockout games, Holland v Denmark, Portugal v Czechs.

So no, 23 were not odds against.

So why does he provide his legion of fans with a bet of the day?

And you say he's not a tipster?

Biscuit, you named 8 matches as being odds against so from 31
matches, 8 being odds against, I calculated therefore that 23
were odds on. Point is really that despite a super start the
law of averages kicked in, finishing with just over 50% strike
rate for a selection that were nearly 75% odds on.

I was unaware McGovern was described as a tipster although I was
under the impression he was predominately a journalist, again I
stand corrected.Sad. Not sure if it matters, but there you
are. Perhaps next time I'm in the newsagents I'll have a peek at
the Daily Mirror hoping no one sees me.

I would really give it up Kenilworth - there are better causes to get stuck into.

I have no firm evidence about his tips but have looked into his column from time to time over the years and have come away with the impression that he is not very good.

Have never found his humour that funny but accept that is subjective, and others will have a different view.

Compenation Year, trouble is I am naturally sympathetic of journalist/tipsters
and think that it is incredibly difficult to win under the constraints they
work within, not necessarily McGovern, but others, and get very irritated by
the assumption that him and his like, are expected win with their daily tips.
Regards McGovern, I don't think I've looked at the Mirror in 10 years, perhaps
like someone else said, in a barber shop waiting my turn. I don't suppose he
is any better or worse than any others who do similar columns. I could do with
out the abuse at times though. Thanks for your post by the way, but I've got a
thick skin. GL

Yes i named 8 matches but you were talking about the winning bets weren't you? 16 wins out of 31 games and i said that of those 16 wins, 8 of them were odds against. Anyway it doesn't really matter now.

there won't be, there will be a 1/3 or so going by how bookies price up a two way market with a 9/4 shot

By:

I'm presuming there is a market somewhere, perhaps Hill's
where McGovern apparently backed him to be gone by the
end of the window at 9/4.

I don't really care, and don't know the man at all.
Turning the question round, why do are people so
incensed by a journalist / tipster who apparently
fails to show a profit from his tips ? Is it because
they are unable to make their betting pay, so feel
better if they can take it out on some innocent
target ? Answer that question. It's verbal vandalism.
He tips a few losers, so what ?
