NK Maribor at Evs to beat Hibernian

Incredibly they were 5/4 yesterday with the Magic Sign. Still at Evens with some layers, and a shade under that on here. This is a great price for the Slovenians at home to the mid-table SPL outfit.

Maribor are seasoned European campaigners, and they are from Slovenia - a nation that qualified for the world cup finals, lost narrowly to England, and would thump Scotland. Maribor are already into their season and have a decent home record. If your check their Euro results, you'll see they don't lose to poor sides out there. Hibs are definitely in that category. A side with no Euro experience, managed by someone who's been shown to be tactically inept, and equally inexperienced in Europe.

I expected no better than 4/6 on Maribor here, but it seems that unless you're a household name, the layers are prepared to be generous with their prices. We saw it yesterday with Braga. And here we have it again.

And before anyone jumps in thinking that this is back any side v an SPL side blindly, think again. I didn't back against Motherwell last time. Motherwell have a shrewd manager and are well organised. Hibs are the opposite, and in any case, have much tougher opponents in Maribor, compared to Motherwell.

Motherwell will not win either today imo but out of the two Hibs have the tougher draw

Is it 5-4 on Lads coupon?

Nice headline & connection, platini. Lost on 98% though.

I won't be touching Motherwell either, but at least it is feasible that they could avoid defeat. Hibs on the other hand, have a shocking defence (made even worse by the absence of Bamba - their only half decent player)

In a nutshell.

After saying that, if I slag Hibs they usually surprise...[:o]

Tynecastle, the 5/4 was on their coupon the last couple of days. You won't get it now but if you can still get Evens, take it. Price is coming in, rightly so.

bamba is a bomb scare he really is.

NK Maribor is sadly a team i know very little about and can only go on stats of previous games. Saying that scottish football is very poor at the moment and it won't get better.

I would be careful with going mental against Hibs. I remember Aberdeen going to Dnipropetrovsk and getting a result against Dnipro - which i think is a better team than NK Maribor i would think (going with stats on the european co-efficient). Think hibs have very good strikers overall that could cause any team problems.

Milners, if Yogi goes with 2 up front tonight, they are going to get mullered. A shrewd tactician would flood the midfield and play counter attack football. But a)Yogi hasn't got the brain to think of that, and b)Hibs don't have the players for that

In any case, I'll be covering the draw to return my stake just in case of a miracle. But Maribor should take this comfortably.

2nd leg at ER new stand will not be open.

I do not expect Hibs to win and dare say they will probably lose.

However comparing Hibs to Motherwell is a BIG mistake.

Riordan Miller Murray Stokes all have caps.
Hanlon Wotherspoon both u/21 caps

Hibs have a very poor defence but well capable of scoring a goal I would make this tie a coin toss to see who qualifies.

Maribor have money problems and are NOT the team that beat Villareal
If Hibs shaky defence does not fold then I will disappointed if Hibs do not to reach the next round

Not sure Platini, i think the best way hibs can play is open with the attacking players they have got. He might play the 1 up top or what we can the 4-3-3 system anyway. I hope hibs do well anyway as Scottish football is in danger of having only 4 teams in european competition.

saying that i've did a reduced bet on NK Maribor. I would agree they should be around 4/5 maybe less.

I've layed some off now and had some on the draw just as cover. I'm now sitting on Maribor at 4/6 draw no bet.

platini. i like the thread title. Irvine welsh novel, who is huge fan of Hibs.

the smart ones will have doubled Maribor 5/4 with aaslands 6/5. it may be depressing being scottish football wise at the min but we may as well make some cash from the situation

WTF ?? I haven't lost any confidence. I've just covered the draw, like I always do (like I did yesterday with Braga). You never know in football - a daft referees decision, a sending off, a pen. It happens.

But I haven't layed Hibs (that would be ultra safe). I've only covered the draw for a stake return. And yes it does work out at 4/6 (having backed Maribor at Evs, layed some back at 1.93, and then had some on the draw).

Didcot, yes it was a reference to Hibbee Irvine Welsh's novel. Most missed it tho LaughLaugh

How much did you get on at 5/4 and 6/5?

the reason why i ask because i want to calculate if you could make more by backing and laying off on bf

back 1.98-lay 1.9
