Buy a quality airbed and try sleeping in a different room.  Putting in ear plugs even if there is no noise can sometimes help. A hot bath late at night can make you drowsy.  A small amount of alcohol, too much and you'll wake up in the night. Some of these work for me some of the time.

Go to sleep when the sun goes down, if you find you wake up early in the morning eg 4am then start your day then.
You need 8-9 hours sleep for optimal health.

SOFAKING

ive suffered from INSOMNIA for years its terrible. It skrews you up.

Some over the counter herbal based products may help you . go to health shop or holland & barrets. VALERIAN,HOPS,PASSION FLOWER stuff like that calms you nervous system down, and makes you slightly drowsy. But as the shop assistant and they can suggest to you other stuff which best suits you.

also PERSCRIPTION MEDICINES:
Benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines are the ones most commonly prescribed hypnotics. Originally developed to treat anxiety, these drugs reinforce a chemical in the brain that inhibits neuron excitability. They include lorazepam (Ativan), alprazolam (Xanax), triazolam (Halcion), and temazepam (Restoril), among others. Side effects include respiratory symptoms, daytime drowsiness, memory loss, and odd mood states. Benzodiazepines are potentially dangerous when combined with alcohol and should not be taken by people who use the ulcer medication cimetidine (Tagamet).

Non-benzodiazephines. Newer short-acting nonbenzodiazepines are available that can induce sleep with fewer side effects than the benzodiazepines. These hypnotics include zolpidem (Ambien), zaleplon (Sonata), and zopiclone (Imovane). They include zolpidem (Ambien), zopiclone, and zaleplon. Side effects include nausea, dizziness, nightmares, agitation, and headache. These hypnotics may pose less of a risk of dependence. The brands have some differences, Zaleplon (Sonata) is the shortest-acting hypnotic available. It can be taken even in the middle of the night and if a patient needs to awaken in only four hours. Zolpidem (Ambien) may be useful for people who take it as soon as they go to bed, since it is longer acting than Sonata.

Antidepressants. These can relieve insomnia associated with depression or early morning awakening. A combination of newer antidepressants and structured psychotherapy is proving to be very effective for improving both depression and insomnia in patients with both conditions. Researchers are particularly interested in investigating nefazodone (Serzone), a newer antidepressant that appears to improve sleep efficiency. Newer antidepressants include trazodone (Desyrel), nefazodone (Serzone), and paroxetine (Paxil). These medications have far fewer side effects, and much less danger for overdose, than other anti-insomnia drugs.

BUT FIRST MAKE APPOINTMENT TO YOUR GP. He probably give you antidpressant or maybe sleeping drug.

Also if you do some phsical activity before couple of hours before bedtime, dont watch TV 1 hour before sleep , read some boring book LOL may help you fall sleep.

yeah no worries m8.

yeah the herbal stuff works for some and not for others. Obviously DRUGS are more effective and approved bye the FDA, howeve DRUGS have more side effects, so you need to read consult you GP, as them about possible drugs, and what side effects go with them. Get the one with least side effects & small dose to start off with.

I got a sleeping drug last year, i totaly forgot the name, but i be honest didnt work for me much, and left some bitter taste in my mouth everytime i took it, which lasted for 24hrs or so. Also some drugs may become addictive.

its tough one i dont have the solution you need to see someone qualified

good luck

What is Phenergan?

Phenergan is an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body.

Phenergan is used to treat allergy symptoms such as itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives, and itchy skin rashes.

Phenergan also prevents motion sickness, and treats nausea and vomiting or pain after surgery. It is also used as a sedative or sleep aid.
Report strikeitrich2 July 30, 2010 12:23 AM BST
yeah u can get some ANTIHISTIME drugs over the counter, i was actually gonna get one once, but on the pack says mainly for HAYFEVER ITCH and stuff. Sedative property of the drug seems to be only a secondary effect of the medicine.

i decided to leave it alone, because i didnt know if it was the right thing to take.Because it wasnt specifically desinged for a sleeping aid

i dont know though is upto you

Had cronic insomnia years ago and camomile tea seemed to cure it.
Nowadays if I've been missing out on me zeds I take a lorazepam tablet..100% guaranteed to do the trick. It will probably end up being addictive in the sense that I'll find it impossible to sleep without it but as Sir Clement Freud said: there's nothing wrong with being addicted to sleepers as long as you've got sleepers(or words to that effect).
