Try not to over complicate things too much, mate. I tend to stick to around 15-20 bets a month, if your serious about making money on here then perhaps get yourself a little notepad/diary and keep a track of every single bet you make, what odds they were placed at and for how much, use as a referrence for where your going wrong what you can imrpove on and so on, always bet what you can afford to lose as it saves chasing, patience and discipline are key and make sure you do your research and stick to what you know, all very cliche I know, very basic but if you stick to it, you won't go too far wrong, good luck.

Yeh dunno how he'd have a @Betfair E-mail, hilarious.

Sorry that was mean of me.Just have a good exit strategy and no when to cut your losses,so you can live to fight another day.Learn to trade positions and don't be driven by greed. This time of year, stay away from friendlies,Japanese football,MLS, Women Internationals and you'll be just fine.

Yeh if i stuck o the main European leagues i shoudn't be too far wrong, i always lose alot on Brazil Serie A, should probably stop betting on anything besides. England-Italy-Spain abd maybe a bit German. I should probably start laying more teams too, as i always just go for who i fancy to win, and have never backed a draw before lol. Tbh i can't remember the last time the taem i backed got beat, it's always just draws letting me down.
Patience is the key with that though, but in the long run it's defo best i guess.. |
|
By:
you have to make your own strategy , takes time then stick to it
fine tuning when and as needed good luck . |
|
By:
@sonnyraygurnden - that's very disciplined. Most on here (me included) would do 15-20 bets a day easily.
Definitely stay away from Brazil at the moment, that league is just too unpredictable. |

By:
lay wigan blackpool and sunderland in away matches, unless they play each other...

By:
Don,t bet bored, don,t risk more than 5%.
|

watch out for trends maybe. teams on winning streaks or unbeaten teams at home. E.g Sampdoria remained unbeaten at home all of last season.
You could work out a point scoring system to rate teams for say last 5 home v last 5 away. e.g lose=0, draw=5, win=10. Its all about experimenting and putting the effort in. This is something I am looking into but obv it needs work. It may not even work but its worth a try. record bets to see wins and loses always stick to small percentage of bank Also use Goal difference stats as a pointer when picking. Goals win games |
|

Always back singles always trade when a profit can be guaranteed dont chase stay patient study form. I bet on markets that have no more than 3 outcomes ie Football Cricket Tennis. Betting in play can deliver profits if you can read the game and use your own skill and judgement. Im not making fortunes but im not losing either I look upon it as a hobby rather than an income as I just love all sports.

Friendlies are great! I make a bunce laying the favourite.

Yeh i think i'm gonna try something new this year, this is what im thinking right now.
6Bets a week consisting of 4Lays & 2 Match bets.. Onglish & Spanish leagues in 5 of the bets unless i see good value. Quit betting in the week nomatter what if i get upto 100% gain(May seem like alot but im not dealing in huge sums, smallish to start). Ima try that first and see how it goes. |
|
By:
Have a staking plan based on the size of your fund; the 5%/10%/30% strategies are all good and should be considered and stick to it even when you lose; you will learn by losing and, as quoted above, keep records so that you can begin discarding bets that are just plain stupid; if you give yourself a realistic chance to win it might just happen.
|
|
By:
How hard do u think it is to make nearish to 100% a week? The % will drop on my gain obviously when i build my bank up, but im only gonna start with about £30 tbh so making 30% is nothing.
I don't have the cash to starting at £100 etc right now. |
|
By:
You won't make 100% per week; don't even think about it; it won't happen.
The minimum bet is £2.00 and if you can't afford £100.00 then that should be your stake. That's my advice, your shout. |
|
By:
100% a week is tough, I would agree, no matter the stakes.
|
|
By:
A consistent 5% increase on your bank a week is tough enough, forget 100%!
|
|
By:
it depends on your edge and how many times you can turnover your money. 6 bets a week would be no good at all to me
|
|
By:
You cannot do 100% a week though can you buzzer? Not unless you over stake and take risks.
|
|
By:
No but doubling your bank over a month is possible, depending on turnover of course

Yep, it is all about churning.

and the bigger the bank the harder this is to do due to liquidity in certain markets

By:
I'd say a lot fail due to not having enough time to spend on the markets so look to make larger amounts risking too large a percentage of their banks which eventually leads to them depositing again.
It's not easy and takes up a lot of your time, often when others are out enjoying the weekends, for people just wanting to make a few quid and enjoy their punting i'd just say spend your time ensuring you get the best possible price on your selections, which isn't always here especially when commission is taken into account. Open accounts with bookies and take advantage of any offers and look to the spreads and the prices they have up for the markets you're looking to punt in. If you can't even be bothered doing that just keep your stakes very small and enjoy the odd bet in games you watch, good luck. |

We ought to co-wright a book as there seems to be plenty of interest in this.
|
|
By:
you can be in charge of the grammar.
|
|
By:
1) Stick to sports you know.
2) Look for over reactions in markets. They frequently occur, even if it is only briefly. 3) Don't do "fun" bets. If you back something it should be for a reason. Good luck. |

certainly time consuming. i trade pre match and at HT only and i can just about fit that into a day. usually enter about an hour before kick off, if there are a few games at once i chose a couple and do them at the same time. when they kick off i start on the next ones or if there's a bit of a gap i get chores etc done and if i can, get back in at HT.
unfortunately i have to constantly monitor the markets so i spend far too much time sat on the computer. i'm worreid for my posture actually. then at the end of the day i leave offers up overnight for the next days games and check them in the morning. [smiley:crazy] |
