A few questions:
1. How old are you? 2. How old are you? 3. Have you, at any point during the Euros, kissed your laptop/PC? 4. Could you please post every single bet? 5. How old are you? On a serious note, well done. |

Lost a lot (for me) on Germany. I think only Podolski played the game worse than me. Could have traded out for a much smaller loss but despite all evidence to the contrary I kept believing, like a real mug. Bob, what's your tip for Spain-Italy? |
|
By:
why Bob, they where hardly impressive against the Portuguese and Italy played surprisingly well against a Germany team fancied to win comfortably. Italy had also played extra time against England so should have been knackered. I do expect a tight game as well tbf.

If you expect it to be really close what is the logic in backing the favourite?

To answer your question bob. I was deeper than i wanted to be on rafa and was 2-1 down. Basically backed him again at 2-1 as i was losing anyway and used the swing to go + on the other guy. When the nobody broke early i traded for a minor loss. I was about £250 red at start of trade, whats another £80 when you could trade down that loss to under £10. The objective in the end was not about having a green screen but to limit loss. doing this you could have saved yourself a big loss on england at any point up to shootout and you could have had a decent green when rafa won 4th. Was watching only sporadically but it was clear he was struggling to dominate any facet of match. You eliminate those two bets i've talked about and you are probably ahead in past 2 weeks at least. Nobody wins all bets, even the bot parasites. My opnion is (only my opinion) that managing my losses was a huge turning point in first breaking even and building profit
Thanks Jonnie. Thinking long term. Happy to chip away and if successful perhaps next year (or next after that) could earn a modest part-time salary. You doing ok yourself? |
|
By:
Handling losses is a huge hurdle imo too. I have always imagined would be traders to make the mistake of always greening up when they can but taking a full hit when the event runs against them. Successful ones (I also imagine) will realise that the target is always to improve your position and when things go red it is sometimes best just to minimise the red, mindful of the overall goal to make long term profit. So I think that your above example shows greater skill and maturity than a case where you trade in and out for a green book.

From Yesterday: Tennis: £120.33 Total P&L: £120.33
TTS. I'm doing ok after a year on here, but I'm still very much in a learning phase. Was interested by what you and Cat were discussing as accepting a large red is still very much my Achilles heel atm. In the Germany v Italy game I backed Germany to qualify. Right after half time Germany, as I expected were much improved, but after 60 mins it was clear to me that Italy had weathered the storm and looked likely to score on the break at any time. At this point I should have clawed back some of my loss (£500), but didn't react. Still, as they say, "everyday's a school day". Funnily enough, although my interest is mainly in football, my results are proportionately far better in tennis, although due to full time work I'm rarely able bet on it. |
