Bob, how on earth can you bear to keep asking the same questions day after day after day after day. A few weeks of doing exactly the same thing would have most of us blowing our brains out through boredom. But you've been spending most of your time firing off the same questions for months and months now. How on earth do you keep up the motivation???
And why aren't you spending that time doing something that might actually allow you to develop some money-making skills? Like, erm, testing yourself at pricing up football matches?? |

Bob, Rob has been putting up his P/L almost daily for several months now. You put up a day's P/L every now and again. You should really be the one who goes first, particularly given how you're the one who's jumping over the backs of everyone else.

No way I'm posting my P/L up Bob. I know from previous experience that it's hard enough going through losing periods without other people commenting on them. There's no way I'm doing anything to add pressure to myself. And there's also no way I'm telling people what events I betted on, just in case somebody's smart enough to take a few of them and work out what I'm doing. If you chaps want to post up your P/L, that's up to you. And I'm certainly very interested in reading them. I wouldn't do it myself though.
Point is, Bob, I only really post on this thread when I see someone else trying to wreck it with endless idiot posts. If you didn't post twaddle every night, I wouldn't feel the need to post at all. |

Biscuit, think you'll find he didn't do anything 'differently' as such. He just got lucky this week and unlucky in the previous month. He bets on favourites and then doubles up when he loses, so he turns a lot of losing bets into 'winners'. However, in the long run that's a losing strategy. And Bob's P/L testifies to that. Ridiculous he doesn't spend less time here and more time learning how to bet really.

You seem proud of the fact that you never 'shyed' away from being a Martingaler. Why are you proud of sticking defiantly to a strategy you know to be a loser, rather than spending your time instead trying to improve your skills by pricing up football matches?

Bob, successful long-term bettors have to be getting value - whether they realise it or not. If you're always bet on 1.5 shots that are genuine 1.5 shots (for example), you're going to lose money overall through commission. There's no way round that.
Successful long-term bettors *must* be getting superior prices. Some people have crafted a system that gets them value without realising they're getting value. Many others aren't really getting good value at all, in which case they'll lose in the long term. I don't think Loaded Gimp has been here long. I don't know how he bets, and don't really care. Possibly he takes lots of poor-value shots. In which case I doubt he'll still be here in a year. |

True Rop. Bob shouldn't even be posting here at all, as his winning days just give hope to the losers. He'll lose overall, even though Martingaling will appear to give him a lot of good days. Ultimately, though, all martingalers are losers. Full stop. Absolutely no point in betting that way.

Then why do you bet? And don't give me that 'because I don't know any other way' balls. 'Not betting' is another way. And 'not betting' will make you more money in the long-term than your current approach.

Actually Rop, when I originally read about Martingales my first reaction was 'well, I bet I can find a ruse to make that work somehow'. I wrote several programs and did countless run-throughs of countless strategies and found that, nope, it doesn't work. And I haven't gone there again since.

I don't know what you work as but i doubt you earn enough to be able to afford to lose 1700 quid in a month. Is this money you already had or are you taking it off credit cards or something? Doesn't your bird wonder where all your money has gone? |
