Ngog's dive was worse than Eduardo's because there was absolutely no contact and the dive was far more theatrical.

So there would seem no way the FA can not charge him with deceiving the referee and little doubt he'll get a two match ban.

Also how many times has Rafa come out and complained about Ref's getting crucial decisions wrong? He's even publicly demanded and got apologies from Refs.

So where is Rafa's apology for one of his players chaeting?

bans only apply when SAF has a rant now after Rafarantgate last year :^0
Report sintonian • November 10, 2009 8:17 AM GMT
Do the FA take retrospective action on that kind of thing ? Thought it was only for foul play, so to speak ..

Rafa said in interview probably not a Pen.

Very BIG of Rafa. Now where is the public apology from the man with the spectacles?
Report Arsene • November 10, 2009 9:21 AM GMT
It was UEFA who charged Eduardo and banned him from two UEFA games. The Premier League / F.A had nothing to do with it, so no action / ban will happen
Report maverick • November 10, 2009 9:22 AM GMT
Birmingham should accept this with the quiet dignity Celtic showed and get the FA to lobby UEFA as well as launch a media witch hunt

I could be mistaken but I thought Rafa said the player had said it was not a pen, and he himself said it was probably not a pen, I think its the birmingham manager who should get an apology from the ref, not really down to Benitez imo

Why should the Ref apologise because Ngog deliberately set out to deceive him?

In the past Rafa has demanded public apologies from referees for getting penalty decisions wrong. At the very least he should order Ngog to make a public apology.

Then there is the matter of the points.

Liverscum.

The ref should or should not apologise its entirely his perogative, in other incidents when a ref feels he has made an error he/they sometimes issue an apology, ngog could publicly apologise, but not sure what it would gain, although it may appease some/many, as for the points the ref makes the decisions and they stand, so points are not really an issue
Imagine if a goalkeeper retrieved the ball from 3 feet over the goal line and then carried on playing as if was not a goal and the ref was deceived and the opposition team did not gain any extra points
things happen, and the game moves on rightly or wrongly imo

not sure why the referee should apologise. he was conned. ngog shold apologise but that's about it
Report REDUNDANT PUNTER • November 10, 2009 10:00 AM GMT
I am not saying the ref should apologise, just saying some have in the past, I think an apology from ngog would be the correct thing to do imo, and also the club should suspend him from selection for two games again imo

Let's get the **s out of the game, good point redpunt. Think Cole should get a 2 matcher for his theatrics on Sunday too.

Liverpool aren't looking dangerous imo.

Danger to themselves at the moment

I have noticed eduardo now doesnt get some valid decisions his way. I think that players will get a reputation from their actions eventually.
Report maverick • November 10, 2009 10:12 AM GMT
eduardo doesn't even appeal when he is fouled now. it really affected him
Report Can't Catch Me • November 10, 2009 10:16 AM GMT
Rafa doesnt deserve any criticism. Last few months he has been much better and said himself it wasnt a pen.

The problem with football players, and other sportsmen, is that they constantly push the barriers to gain advantage, players pretending to be hurt going down clutching their faces as if hit by a sledgehammer, diving to gain fouls or penalties, goal keepers pulling the ball back from 3 feet over the line as if it was not a goal, the list is of unsporting behaviour in football is extensive, yet I think I can only recall two incidents of sportmanship, (fowler and di canio) there may be others but its a far less extensive list imo

Arshavin last season was awarded a penalty but got to his feet and said to the Referee it was not a Pen. As soon as he stood up he was waving his hands saying No Pen.

Obviously as an armchair fan I only see televised incidents, or ones that are reported, but thats nice to hear

Report REDUNDANT PUNTER • November 10, 2009 10:28 AM GMT

Report sintonian • November 10, 2009 10:28 AM GMT

If players have to appologise every time they deceive the ref, theyll be about 20 appologies after each game.
Its so obvious that we need a video ref to sort out these big decisions. It will solve most the problems.Cricket is painfully slow and they have it often, so does rugby.

robbie fowler???
he said it was no pen, then bloody scored it

mav he missed it macateer scored the rebound, double sportsmanship from robbie imo
Report martin_593114 • November 10, 2009 10:32 AM GMT
the robbie fowler one p1sses me off, yes he did say to the ref no pen but if he wanted to be sporting he should have rolled the ball to the goalkeeper rather than trying to score same as saint stevie should have last night
Report REDUNDANT PUNTER • November 10, 2009 10:35 AM GMT
lol martin, there is no pleasing some people, I thought that about the di canio one he only caught it cos he knew he could not control it on his chest
