These 2 clubs have millions of supporters in every nation around the world, far bigger than any other british clubs. I can understand why they have said no, not that it makes it right when all is said and done.

I'm fully aware of that, I was just giving one example. It's absolutely pathetic that you believe that an individual or team's decision not to wear a poppy in some way suggests they value the sacrifices made by all those that have fought in wars in a lesser light than those that do. It smacks of the very sad level of desperation that so many people feel the need to go to in order to llok like they're take the moral high ground.

Of course. But in this case the logic is surely flawed. I'm quite sure that any supporter that goes to a professional game tomorrow will have ample opportunity to purchase a poppy should they wish to. I already have one, but will still contribute to a collection if I have some change on me when I walk past those collecting at the game I'll be attending. Why feel this desperation for every club to sign up? What does that prove? Why not quit whinging and do what you feel is right and leave everyone else to do the same.

How the hell is it "wrong"? Football clubs in this country do not have a history of putting poppies on their football shirts. It never happened till a couple of years ago. One side thought it would be nice to do it and others followed suit. That's their right. Manchester United have chosen not to. Are you seriously suggesting that because of that United as a club or any of those that represent it value the effort made by those that have given their lives in war any less? The way some of these people in the Daily Mail and such like go on, anyone who doesn't wear a poppy is evil. It's so simplistic and mind-numbingly painful to listen to.

RMB, These i.m.o have a duty to support things like this, they should have no choice, my under 13 team will be along with nearly every other sunday league side, be having a minutes silence, its about RESPECT.

Completely disagree - it's all about choice. Having no choice in decisions is effectively fascism. That's what this nation fought so wonderful to prevent the spread of. I admire the actions of your team, you're doing what you feel is right. But you should not be forced into that by anyone.

My grandad fought in ww1 and he hated the poppy, partly cos it was originaly American. He was a member of the British leigion but just didn't like the poppy as a symbol and from what he said he wasn't the only one who felt that way.
