UK Open 2022 @ Minehead Fri, Sat, Sun 4th-6th March. 2 sessions each day.

This PDC event is to be contested by Professionals plus a very small handful of real Amateurs. I've chosen 3 categories...

Shortie:
Kevin Burgess

Coin toss:
Dan Read

Value:
Ryan Murray

Shortie - Kevin Burgess v Graham Hall
Burness was a real contender and in form runner for the recent Seniors World Championship. The opportunity of winning £30K bit the dust when he won a tour card. Rendering him a non starter. A formidable player once in the zone with regular averages in the 90's.

Graham Hall...When I was still active in tournaments, Graham was gaining a reputation as a player to watch out for. A regular finalist around the Midlands, winning the majority. He naturally progressed through the system and having put the hours and work in he entered Q School but it wasn't to be and he is now playing on the challenge tour. This will be Graham's 2nd time in the Uk Open having qualified previously and will have that experience to lean on.

Coin toss - Dan Read v Diogo Portela

Dan Read...Missed out on a tour card on leg difference. Has a challenge tour running average around 90 with £500 banked.

Diogo flatters to deceive. Lost his tour card and finished a point behind Read at Q School. Also plays the Challenge Tour with running average of  88+  and £100 banked.

Diogo entered Rileys Victoria London as an amateur. Won the final against Lee Evans (I forgive you) and proceeded to scream and jump about like an idiot, as seen online!

Dan won Rileys Solihull qualifier, a venue I know well. In fact I qualified for the National Singles via both these venues. Aaaah the memories.

I'm sat typing this by the pool and Puppy Love - Donny Osmond is playing at hotel next door. Kill the DJ!

Value: Ryan Murray v Jim Williams

Ryan is another player who lost his tour card and qualified via the amateur event. Have you noticed the pattern of these Riley Amateur Qualifiers!

Jim is so laid back I haven't even checked his form for 2022.

Shortie:
Graham is very capable, but on current form Burgess is consistently recording 90+ average wins. Burgess to win @ 1/3

Coin toss:
Who prices these matches up as most favs are based on Algorithms, current ranking, reputation and form. Dan Read is at least on a par if not above Diogo on current form and is my coin toss pick of the round. Read to win @ 5/4

Value:
Ryan is a quality player and the price is al value standout in a race to 6 Legs. Murray to win @ 9/4

P.S. I note the big boys amongst the top 32 seeds are being protected with the format increased to best of 19 Legs when they enter the 4th round draw stage. Glad I got to witness the event at Bolton with all match boards in the same room at a time when it was true amateur qualifiers. Then pdc ruined it by moving to Minehead for the coin.

Here's to an interesting UK Open...
Again my Outrights are the same 2 players of Price 5/1 & Wright 6/1 dutched @ 11/5 as Wright tries again to finally claim that Number 1 spot. Just imagine if he never reached No1 before relinquishing his tour card. Another 5 years on the main tour maybe, before slouching over to the Seniors.

Good luck everyone

I've backed 3 in the outright, Florian Hempel @ 250/1, Jamie Clark @ 400/1 and Brian Raman @ 1000/1, ew 4 places... not expecting much as the standard at the top of the food chain in incredible, the format gives me a squeak with the luck of the draw... early exits incoming most likely...

Good luck Colupaul. In it to win it.

Dan Read has gone odds on 4/5.

Another notable mover is the new Norn Iron sensation, Josh Rock, 1/2 into 1/3. An incredible talent for one so young. Plays Development Tour and Pro Tour. Won his card at this year's Q School.

Dutch youngster Kevin Doets is another on my radar. There's  loads more too as the convener belt of new talent shows no sign of stopping. Doets has shown huge potential with big averages in close fought matches on the Pro Tour. Available 8/11

Another player I've had a punt on winning his opening match is the Canadian Matt Campbell. Played half decent on his brief stint at Modus, winning the event before losing a high quality match at pdc world championships (that's 2 years running.) Available 8/13

My 7fold returns 50/1. The Edge returns 35/1 with money back if One selection loses. Lights out. 6 hrs til Modus starts. For the more normal amongst us it's a few hrs later with UK Open. Big note pad and gel pens at the ready. ITV4 on the tablet, everything else on phone.

Play resumes later. Lost track with time zones. Has the last 64 draw taken place? With Sportsbook I made a whopping £3 profit. Headshaker blowing it cost me an extra ton on top acca. And those b@stards sp@rtingbet have locked me out. Played several matches on the h'cap with most hitting the required 5 legs. Nice profits landed. Will contact them later as I'm sure they're closing me down. F@ck 'em. To the roof top, pool/jacuzzi time. But first...the draw is indeed in and I'm a little confused as to who these 8 players are in the 4 matches on Main Stage for TV worldwide broadcast. Can someone enlighten me. Cheers!

Cheers pauli. Been quite occupied playing a game with Sportingbet. It's called good luck trying to contact us as it's near impossible to find a way in. I'm no gamer so I'm  f@cked. Meanwhile went down the list and clicked on 3 players for tonight. Treble pays 11/10 Waites, Barry, Wade.

Has the evening session started yet? I now have 1 account left...time to take on my former employees...This moment is long over due

Back with Sporting...technical error. Time to trade across to bf and run my money down. Got a feeling I'd have issues with withdrawing. Knowing my luck the sporting bets will land and balance increase even more.

P.S. G Hall is playing the match of his life and still losing 6-4. Both 101 ave. Missed tops for 140 c/o. Next leg missed D6 for 126 c/o. Punished both times with big c/o's from Barry to steal

I like Keane. Just had a fiver on him at 120. Liked it when he play Price a while back and proper gave it back to him when he hit some big shots. Hope you're having a good time mate. How long you in Mechico for? I see tickets for finals night at lakeside are £103! They're having a laugh aren't they? Saying that id probably go if there were some rooms available but there's not.

BB, I've been waiting on the weather picking up back home. Has it? Haha! SLF UK tour is starting soon but too settled  to fly back just yet. I'm currently on a UK Open money buying expedition, though staying no later than June when the festivals season kicks off. This time I've gone for a selection of 3 from the top of the darting pyramid with Clayton, Price, and the Shanghai Masters Champion. Treble pays 11/10

Lakeside was always gonna struggle selling tickets with these names players. Whoever's funding the event,  is it Potter still? Need to simply give tickets away or very very minimum drop the prices by 70%/80%.

Take a look at when the pdc started (wdc) they did exactly that in Blackpool. They were handing tickets out along the promenade, anywhere, to anyone who fancied popping in for even 5 mins. We had season tickets on tables spread apart like this covid 2 metres bs. You could freely move around the venue and stan james were taking bets to the right side of the stage. I was there constantly betting in play LOL. Burgess you require 164 (with Taylor on a double.) As per Shane's famous quote saying Phil leaves us shots at doubles....yeah 160, 161, 164, 167, 170...

What pdc also did several years later was invite players to jump ship and give pdc a try. Many signed up and the carrot for these players was £50 bet on the tournament, (Matchplay obviously) to attend and watch the final in a specially set up stand and get a sense of the build up and atmosphere. Many put their £50 on Taylor Outright possibly 4/5 that year, though for many years started 4/6 and paid for many a holiday. Thanks Phil.

Blackpool promenade for a tickets give away is one thing but where do you go on the streets near Lakeside? There's f@ck all there, Buy one get 4 free. They have to do something but either way I have 100% for the players who will attempt to win the event.

P.S. One of those new pdc players at Blackpool was the Muffin Man. He's in the Lakeside line up. Come on Hiney!!! Cheers
