yea defo harsh - he played well.  However you do get the impression with Anderson that he always feels the inferior player against taylor.  MVG in particular, and Lewis (now and then) genuinely think/know that they are better.  Seem to be more the types of player that get to phil.

no player (except barney) seems to like mvg.  He p1sses them off and gets under their skin.  It's what makes him so good though - he's got that edge/lack of fear when it comes to playing the big boys.

OTB - you do get the impression with Anderson that he always feels the inferior player against taylor.  MVG in particular, and Lewis (now and then) genuinely think/know that they are better.  Seem to be more the types of player that get to phil.

Nailed it with that comment - I firmly believe than Anderson believes he's number TWO...to Taylor - AND he IS if he's on form!
By:

When: 26 Jul 14 22:36
Anderson & Whitlock are very similar...they can both throw utter shíte but can be breathtaking too unless they're up against Taylor - there's TOO much respect which MVG and even Lewis just refuse to accommodate!

I don't know how many times I've said this but YET AGAIN, I feel gutted for Anderson Cry

Just how many times has he let Taylor (with a full head of steam) off the hook? Surprised

I can certainly understand Gary's frustration as Taylor NEVER plays like a fággot against him!
By:

Sorry to be having a personal monologue but I did say the Anderson SPUNKATHON was inevitable (with Gary a break up at 8-7) regardless of how well he was playing Cry

To be fair Anderson did throw everything at him where he usually bottles....the respect he received was due. Epic match.

I've lost count of the number of times Gary's put 'the frighteners' on Taylor only to blow it!
He KNOWS it's gonna happen and more so, Taylor does!

He's out-played him numerous times only to lose again & again - I think Taylor refuses to forget the mauling he had about 6 years ago!

It's inevitable regardless of how well Gary plays or how shít he makes Taylor play!

Hard to believe that Taylor was evens I/R and even worse, I couldn't possibly bring myself to back him! Sad
Taylor failing to get my maxes bet in just adds deep insult to scathing injury!
By:
Gibberish
When: 26 Jul 14 23:25
Just seen MVG is odds against tomorrow - Phil looked MORE than vulnerable earlier against Gary and he won't get away with that against MVG.
By:
Gibberish
When: 26 Jul 14 23:27
Taylor's playing good enough but he showed plenty of frailties against Gary who he KNOWS is in his arse pocket - that's certainly not the case with MVG who will relish the challenge...I think he'll scare Taylor!

I've needed a few EXTRA drinks tonight to realise that I really do need my bumps feeling...I've known for years that ANY game involving Anderson OR Taylor is a mega-jinx for me (I've lost more than a few quid in the past on that pair) but to get bummed YET again on those two against EACH OTHER has emphasised to me just what a tit I really am! Cry

It's a good job I'm up on the tournament as that enables me to laugh at myself...AGAIN!
That said, at least I got the checkout bet in with a couple of bets, though predictably the bigger bets got savaged!
I don't suppose I'll ever learn Sad

I've seen Taylor miss half a dozen match darts on several occasions when I've desperately needed him to nail the double, yet he's gone out on numbers between 340 & 350 in SIX darts to ransack me for plenty! plenty of times!
AND even worse, Anderson has developed a full head of steam at PRECISELY the most inopportune moment for it to go against me, nailing huge checkouts left, right & centre! Cry
He has been a DEMON on the doubles when it's against me!

Dontcha just hate this gambling game sometimes?
Never mind, a small loss on the night is bearable...especially when it's my own fault as I should know better.

I still have nighmares about losing not far of £3K when I offloaded on Thornton (and onto Taylor) at the Reebok a couple of years ago (having Phil on my side for a greasy £200) before some ballsac intervened, jumped on the stage and made Taylor shít his pants! CryCryCry

Nearly as bad was the time when Nicholson beat him in the Players' Champ's SF - it's EXTREMELY rare I have a green on Taylor as I'm reluctantly accustomed to losing £20 or so laying at 1.0x...the man buggers me with such frightening regularity Cry

At least the likes of Jenkins gives you a rollercoaster ride and there's a bit of hope as I have won a few times on El Tel as is the case with Baxter & Chisnall.

Is anyone else as backward as me in being unable to resist a punt on their jinxes?
I thought the corner had turned after Taylor missed darts to finish the match against Michael Smith, giving Bully another chance to nail a max (which he duly did) and earning me a few quid - I was astonished...but it's back to normal now Sad

Big hug for the saturday night guzzler - Gibberish Devil

Anderson played his part in a fantastic match. I don't see anyone saying Taylor was a bottle job for missing four match darts on D18 on his throw, when the score was 16-14?

Taylor 134-96-42-137 to leave 92 after 12 darts
Ando 91-99-100-41 to leave 170 after 12 darts
Taylor 20,T12, missed D18 for the match
Ando 20, T20, bull to leave 40
Taylor misses 3 darts at D18 for the match
Ando nails D20 1st dart to get it back on throw

Taylor leads 16-15.

Ando throws first to save the match:
Ando 93-97-140 (171 left after 9 darts)
Taylor 140-140-140 to leave 81 after 9.
Ando 130 to leave 41 after 12 darts
Taylor T19, D12 in 11 darts to break and win the match.

From those two legs show me where Anderson bottled it?

He played his part in a fantastic match and the animal that is Phillip Taylor showed why he is still the king of the Matchplay with a near perfect leg of darts.

Can't wait for tonight's final against MVG Grin

Sunday 27th July 2014 - World Matchplay Final - Best of 35 Legs

Michael Van Gerwen (World No1) v Phil Taylor (World No2, and Matchplay winner last 6 years)

Van Gerwen 11/10 sporting v Taylor 10/11 in places[/b]

Selections:
Total Match 180's - UNDER 17.5 @ 11/13 bwin
Total Legs - OVER 30.5 @ 5/6 sly (both to win 13 legs min)

Only concern with the total 180's bet is if it goes to "extra legs." Could well condemn it but what a treat us darts lovers would be in for if it went all the way to a sudden death leg!

Also had pokes on both players covering their averages spread, as well as my customary bet in a tv final - highest checkout player being a draw. (One day it will cop)!

Not forgetting my pre match bet - Total 170 Tourney Checkout - NONE @ 8/1 vic.
I usually post a separate "170's checkout" thread and why it's value, (ie..hitting the 170 isn't the hard bit, it's leaving it on in the first place) which gets ridiculed every tourney. (A 170 Checkout in the PL was a 1/14 shot) - Total PL 170's - ONE: Ando, of which i highlighted it as value the night he hit it as bwin went an over priced 8/1).

NO 170 checkout in the previous European Event on TV was 9/4 vic, which duly obliged. Now the Matchplay looks like following suit @ 8/1

To be a 170 checkout in the final:
YES 5/1
NO 1/9

Step forward all you value knockers. Trade or not to trade - That is the question? Devil

Here's to a brilliant night of darts and more of the same from these two top players.
Tough one to call though?

Both had ropey spells in their semi final matches:
MVG lost 4 legs in a row when leading 2-0. (legs 3-6). He later won 5 in a row when losing 5-7. (legs 13-17).
Taylor lost 4 legs in a row when leading 7-4. (legs 12-15)

Cue a cheesy song - Bananarama (biggest girl band at the time) & Fun Boy Three (3 legends from The Specials)

8 hrs until final night - We're in for a treat!
Final stats then i'm out of here:

Taylor's Semi final session stats: (5 legs per session)
1st session - 3-2 (holds throw) 3-2
2nd session - 3-2 (breaks throw) 6-4
3rd session - 1-4 (loses throw) 7-8
4th session - 3-2 (holds throw) 10-10
5th session - 4-1 (breaks throw) 14-11
6th session - 2-3 (loses throw) 16-14
7th session - 1-1 Taylor wins 17-15

MVG's Semi final session stats:
1st session - 2-3 (loses throw) 2-3
2nd session - 3-2 (breaks throw) 5-5
3rd session - 3-2 (holds throw) 8-7
4th session - 3-2 (breaks throw) 11-9
5th session - 2-3 (loses throw) 13-12
6th session - 4-1 (breaks throw) 17-13
Van Gerwen wins 17-13

One last thought:

Will father time play any part in Taylor's recovery time following a grueling semi final?
Will MVG step up to become the new king of Blackpool?

I've found a bit of a rick on tonight's final with 888 going 4/5 for the highest checkout over 131.5 - it's no cert of course but you couldn't ask for a better opportunity in the two best players fighting it out over the best of 35 with the possibility of another 6 legs overtime. Sporting Bet are going 144.5 though the general line is a point or two lower.

Alas, I can't take advantage as their website is a total shambles...you can't access ANYTHING except the poker, casino & roulette shíte - has anyone got an account with them? If so, HOW do you get any prices? Confused
NO telephone number doesn't help things Sad

If I was able to do it, I'd have that in a double with MVG for most maxes at 4/9 (Spread EX) though 888 are 1/3 - the double still works out 7/5 with 888 (which is real value) though needless to say they'll figure that these events conflict with each other which THEY DON'T - that's such an irritating generalisation...they just categorise them as the same because some eventualities DO conflict like for example MVG to win the match and to hit the most 180s - this is NOT one of them!

If so, just how the fcuk can you make the website work? Confused
