Evening all.
Seeing as my Aquafit class was cancelled i thought i'd do this (with the Manics blasting out in the background)... Day 3 - Last 4 matches of round one Fellow forumite onehundredandeighty is off to the winter gardens sweat box tonight. Have a great night fella. I look forward to reading some of the strange goings on of the night! 4 cracking looking matches too. Hoping Vic as the main matchplay sponsor will be the on site bookie, and not the horrific margins robber "Wiltshire" fleecing the gullible seaside punters? Peter Wright v Stephen Bunting By far the draw of the round! When the draw came out I fancied a small investment on Bunting (5/4) to beat Wright and had an even smaller investment on him @ 50/1 e/w cor (before he got drawn in the group death) for the Outright's. Since then Wright's shown some fantastic form, (including winning a recent Euro event). Bunting's had a good first half of the season. Winning many matches in the grand style of a current world champ, but was less than convincing in his 1st round win before disappointing in 2nd round in the event Wright won. (I put his performance down to everything being channelled for the Matchplay?) Mervyn King v Kim Huybrechts As with the opening match I fancied Kim (8/11) to beat King when the draw was made but would sooner play in running and hope to get Kim at odds against. King's come through a dark time in his life (well documented) and it's good to see he's brought back his walk on music - the bastard sound of Motörhead - King of Kings. (Take no prisoners Merv!) Kim slid down the rankings following the world champs, where a big run was expected of him. He's managed to pick his form up and is heading in the right direction. Merv seems to have mellowed. Though he still has a no nonsense presence on stage, he takes defeat with much grace and respect for his opponent. (Thornton could learn a thing or two there). Tune ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edGbXq68e44 Adrian Lewis v Andrew Gilding Odd Ball Gilding was first brought to our attention a year or 2 ago by forumite itfc. Since then (and like many many players) i've followed his progress and backed him on many a pro tour event. So to my horror (more so Gilding's) when he drew one of the elite players was bad news for all concerned. In an event that catapulted Colin Lloyd from oblivion and onto world domination (a former world number one he'll have you know). "Dave [Clark] show me the respect." Lewis - Three words I use to describe him: Lazy lazy lazy. Lewis is a total natural/best ever darting chucker who when on song in near unbeatable and a joy to watch. However, there's also a sloppy side to his game and when he's off the pace he's average at best. An obvious contender because of his abilty to turn a match on its head with a burst of legs. Beating mvg in last year's semi final in one of the best matches ever seen at the winter gardens, then playing as well in the final, only to lose to the imperious Phil Taylor who won with a very tasty 111.23 average :-D Will Lewis go one step further and become the 7th name on the matchplay trophy? (Without cheating, name the previous 6 winners). Gary Anderson v Jamie Caven The last match of the night sees two players who were involved in the battle of "sniff gate." Who remembers that? Anderson accused Caven of gamesmanship/Sniffing on the Anderson throw. Caven responded by saying he had the flu and couldn't help sniffing. Regardless of it being a minor pro tour event, i'm sure the sky hype machine will drag this us as some unfinished business and much alike. Both have been in very good form of late and I have it a lot closer as to who will win the match than the bookies. 4 potential crackers. Wright v Bunting could turn out to be the best 1st round match of all time! King v Huybrechts could go all the way. Which Lewis will turn up? Will Gilding bring his floor game to the stage and exel and do himself justice like Darren did last night v Taylor? Anderson v Caven, another that could go all the way. Jabba on the h'cap? With so many if's and but's and being the last of the first round matches i'm still keeping to sensible stakes whilst you big hitters get stuck right in. The bet I'm interested in is still to be priced up but i'll patiently bide my time. In the meantime - 0ne for tonight: King v Huybrechts: MOST 180'S - Huybrechts @ 17/20 boyl 1pt Good luck fellow darts lovers. May your gods be with you ![]() P.S. Any Manics fans on here? Two fantastic quality sounding gigs from this year's Glastonbury and T in the park http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ7SmZhIp54 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsJFM7SSwVg |

Bunting is pure class on his day.
He's in the toughest quarter by far but he's already shown he's far better player than half of this field |

Shameful performance by Wright, he gave up 30min ago

Huybrechts next. I don't watch a lot of darts but sometimes he seems to be a world beater and other times he's very mediocre. Any thoughts?

that match was nearly as bad as some of the garbage they had on bbc in january

So that's why Wright was so poor throughout - Bunting had Batman on his side (as seen in The Bullet's match interview)
