Friend of a friend once did some brickwork for a track in the late 80s/early 90s. When asked what he wanted paying he asked for no payment but "Just get my dog in T1 next week"
Race day the money was down (as it always seems to be in my stories) and it shot out like a rocket, absolutely miles clear. Unfortunately for the friend of friend, there was a huge pileup behind and the dogs behind started running the wrong way, causing the race to be abandoned. Needless to say, next time out he couldn't get on at any price |
