Well tonight will see the conclusion of the quarter finals and we'll only be 3 matches from finding who is crowned the 2013 champion. I keep thinking the run of the favourites going in has to end somewhere but it shows no sign of doing so at the moment. 1 match looks like a belter on paper the other one not so much but hopefully theres a winner or two out there.

James Wade v Wes Newton:

R3 - Wade bt Vincent Van Der Voort 4-0
Ave: 89.61
180's: 2
HC: 56
CO%: 37%

Newton bt Mark Walsh 4-1
Ave: 87.22
180's: 3
HC: 121
CO%: 38%

Opening semi sees the meeting of 2 of the more unpredictable players for me. Wade's reached the QF with a high average of 92 and I think at the moment he's only got a 93 or 94 in him. However he is still finishing well and that might be enough to reach the semi. Newton played well in his R2 win over Rand but in R1 and R3 I think he was really poor but got away with it v underperforming opponents. I am of the opinion that anything could happen here but I expected Wade to be a bit shorter as I think Newton might get overwhelmed by the occasion. Not one for going mad on but Wade worth a small bet.

Recommendation: 1pt win James Wade @ 8/11 (General)

Michael Van Gerwen v Adrian Lewis:

R3 - MVG bt Colin Lloyd 4-1
Ave: 98.96
180's: 3
HC: 121
CO%: 39%

Lewis bt Kevin Painter 4-2
Ave: 95.06
180's: 8
HC: 109
CO%: 41%

Really looking forward to this one so if the form of the past 2 days goes to plan its bound to be a poor contest. In full flow these 2 are tremendous to watch and I hope they both bring their best as it could be quickfire stuff and one thats great for fans of darts. MVG has played well and is the form man of the last 6 months on tour. Hes full of confidence and as long as the injuries to his feet dont trouble him too much hes a worthy favourite. Lewis played poorly in his opening 2 wins but showed a bit more sparkle in his win over Painter. Its often said to be the man you've got to beat the man (Possession of Ric Flair Laugh ) and if MVG wants to be world champion he has to beat the man who has done it the past 2 years. I think MVG looks the right price but I like the look of his maxes here. I think this has to go at least 7 sets and once he starts hitting the treble he is incredible with his scoring. Hopefully we see better than in his R3 win but I'm hopeful that was just a blip.

Recommendation: 3pts win over 8.5 maxes @ 4/5 (Sky)

Summary: Hopefully the big green machine is looking good on the trebles again as thats the only bet I really fancy. I think Wade should be slightly shorted based on experience too so will risk a very small bet on him but I wouldnt say I was enormously confident about it.

All opinions as usual are more than welcome and hopefully we can get some winners to get rid of the bad run over the last 2 days. Lets hope we actually get 2 good games as well that get all of us darts fans worked up.
HH Happy

good stuff again hh, i think my bet for tomorrow will be under 15.5 180s with Bluesquare, which is interesting as some firms have the line at 13.5, in the newton/wade game. Once again Newton has been far from fluent on them in this tournament and there has been talk of him having a shulder injury which could be affecting him. I also think that wades style of play will not suit newton, wade has this knack of being able to slow down the game without really affecting his own throw and this wont suit newton who really is a rhythmic player. Against walsh, walsh' slower style didnt suit him at all. Wade has never been a prolific 180 scorer either. I expect wade to win this 5-1 or 5-2 so hopefully that should help my bet.

On a side note, HH what do you think of this bet, A former BDO champ to win this years PDC? Its currently 11/8 with PP, /your gaurenteed a player in the final and will 11/8 be available on barney or taylor in the final??

I very much doubt you'd get 11/8 on Taylor in the final, not too sure about RVB but he sure won't be much longer that.

Lucky to get on the unders maxes on the match last night, and with Hammer playing awful, it was nice.

Fancy the under 18.5 tonight Lewis/MVG, thats one hell of a lot . I know Lewis could get 12 if absolutely spot on but can see VG getting to him and making him try too hard. They'll do well to get to 16 between them in my view, and as I reckon VG will have him comfortably, there wont be enough time to get to that huge figure. Nice bet at 5-6 for me

All my outright bets bit the dust before the QF mate so nothing running for me.

The 11/8 looks a good bet to me. Only danger for me is MVG

Flan, i kept a list of pre tourney specials and pp had the one youre on about. the prices were no 4/9....yes 7/4.  it looks likethe list is without taylor. best fone pp before lumping on as it could be a price ricket. when it looks too good to be true it usually is. good luck!

I took the 11/8 with PP at 7.48 this morning.According to Oddschecker they reversed the prices ie 8/15 yes 11/8 No at 10.02.Just checked my account transaction history, and it has altered the price my bet was struck at from 11/8 to 8/15......wtf?
By:
flan1987
When: 29 Dec 12 10:39
Cheers Dartsnbooze, looks like someone in PP made an error or else oddschecker had it wrong, the prices have been reversed this morning, yes is now 8/15 and the odds have been highlighted as changing overnight.
By:

When: 29 Dec 12 10:54
Just phoned PP to query them changing the price of an already struck bet.First they tried to fob me off saying the price changed at 22.30 last night.i told them this was blatantly wrong,as Oddschecker shows it changing at 10.02 this morning. Now they are saying it is a palpable error, and the prices were put up the wrong way around and I can have 8/15 or the bet voided....waiting to speak to a supervisor now Sad
By:
flan1987
When: 29 Dec 12 11:07
not unusual for them to make a mistake, it did seem a price too good to be true, but for them not to tell you was a bit odd? never had it happen with PP but have with bet365, and they emailed me to give me the option of a refund or the proper odds.

Was offered 8/15 or the bet voided.Absolute shyte firm hiding behind the palpable error rule to cover a price rick.Apparently they are "in the process" of e-mailing customers who struck a bet at 11/8 to let them know the good news.

Come on guys, it was obviously the wrong way round. That is what the palpable error is for. It wasnt a pricing error it was an input error.
By:

When: 29 Dec 12 11:22
Can't agree KC...any generous price offered by a bookmaker could therefore be reneged upon quoting the palpable error rule.Getting a dozy cashier to write 33/1 on a 7/4 shot is a palpable error. In this instance,it could be a variety of reasons ie compilers not doing their research properly on who had previously won the BDO title.
I accept your explanation is almost certainly true, however when they price up any 2 horse race incorrectly, they could then hide behind this explanation.

I remember stanjamess messed up a price and i got the palp email about 5mins before the match kicked off saying it will stand at the correct price unless i contact them. the bet had been placed about 2 days before, vile organisation Devil

They have the BDO winners listed in the market Hemsby. Ok its not the most blatant error of all time, but Taylor takes up 36.6% of the betfair outright book, and Barney 23% at current betfair prices. This means they they are a combined 4/6 shot to 100%, therefore 8/15 yes and 11/8 no is a pretty safe price, (bookies love safe prices they can copy from betfair). Even PP compilers can work that out!

I have no respect for the way in which most firms operate these days, but I think they are pretty honest in their use of the palpable error rule. This was DEFINITELY an admin error rather than a price rick.
By:

When: 29 Dec 12 12:23
Yep...as I said earlier KC,I think it probably is the explanation. However I do feel there is an element of doubt,as offering 11/8 a true 4/6 shot wouldn't be the worse price rick ever made.

Although I dislike him would love to see Lewis get to the final and play Taylor.

It would be the ultimate grudge match, Phil going for 16 and Lewis hoping for the hat trick, and if Lewis beats him there it would be the Taylor/Bristow semi in the 90's. Could set up future domination of darts for Lewis. it would be great viewing.

180's to date and legs played for players still in tourney:

Taylor - 11 maxes/58 legs
Barney - 25 maxes/71 legs
MVG - 19 maxes/57 legs
Lewis - 16 maxes/62 legs
Wade - 11 maxes/51 legs
Newton - 8 maxes/51 legs

Based on this I'd say under the maxes in the wade match might be a fair shout

I like newton against wade @ 2.44...had a decent bet with a view to trade off at odds on...looked nervy in first round...played brilliant when playing rand in 2nd round....3rd game was the 1st of the day at lunch time and lots of players hate playing so early so willing to excuse the poorish play.....he has an 8-6 record against wade and they are usually tight games.....wade still throwing too many loose darts and will once again have to finish well to stay with Wes who imho will outscore Wade.
