solid week for him though.

Think competition so intense now that getting to QF of one of big tournies is bloody good effort.

Imagine helpful for the pdc ranking points too

kjp is in no immediate danger of dropping out the top 32, but in no danger of getting back in the top 16, given how the 'rankings' are on prize money (a ranking system that is completely stupid but thats by the by)

I quite like the look of Barney at 5's.

Looks a different player atm.
Report STEPTOES YARD November 17, 2012 7:09 PM GMT
Think he wins tonight
Report treble November 17, 2012 7:14 PM GMT
MVG is great, no doubt. But I never feel comfy with him. I think he can catch punters out easily. Will look dominant for a while, then out of nowhere, when it's completely unexpected, he will play the most godawful game of darts imaginable.
Report Navel-Gazer November 17, 2012 7:24 PM GMT
treble - I'm with you on that one...it's hard to forget most of his normal/moderate form over the last five years!
Report Navel-Gazer November 17, 2012 7:26 PM GMT
I think the pace of the game will suit both of them (Waites should not be underestimated as he thrives on such games) and MVG isn't exactly as consistent as Taylor, so you never know with him.

I hate to agree with Rod Harrington, but the advice he gave about Waites in the outright market is reasoned thinking.
Report happyhibee November 17, 2012 7:31 PM GMT
Barney looks to have rolled back the years last 2 matches. Bet when he's behind again tho his usual sulking starts

I think over the line on maxes in 2nd match is a stonking bet. Waites especially has been battering the trebles all week long
Report Lori November 17, 2012 7:33 PM GMT
It'll be different when he plays somewhere warm.
Report happyhibee November 17, 2012 7:34 PM GMT
Personally think it'll be different if someone gets in front against him and is playing well
Report Lori November 17, 2012 7:34 PM GMT
That too I suspect!

Report Navel-Gazer November 17, 2012 8:21 PM GMT
Wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see Barney revert to type tomorrow...especially as he'll be up against 'big-balls' Andy Hamilton who could grind him down with his power finishing.
Report Navel-Gazer November 17, 2012 8:23 PM GMT
As good as Barney was then, I though Kist really dug in and would be a grand addition to the PDC - he's played better here than he did at Lakeside.
Report Nilsson Schmilsson November 17, 2012 8:24 PM GMT
kist doesnt quite score heavily enough to beat the top players at their best

that said though but the a few missed doubles it could have been closer
Report Navel-Gazer November 17, 2012 8:27 PM GMT
He does show a lot of tenacity and for a relative newcomer who's still young, that augurs well for Kist...been very impressed with him.
Report Lori November 17, 2012 8:27 PM GMT
Despite all the dick sucking going on, he's only averaged 100
Report Lori November 17, 2012 8:29 PM GMT
Admitted that he got tired too, wouldn't bode well for a long semi and final.

If you'd never seen these two before and heard they were 12 years apart in age, you'd pitch it at about 31 and 43
Report DStyle November 17, 2012 8:44 PM GMT
not sure about that lori.

if you have a proper look at van gerwen he does look like a big baby.
Report DStyle November 17, 2012 8:45 PM GMT

Report Lori November 17, 2012 8:45 PM GMT
Yeah, he's babyfaced... but overall I don't think you'd clock it.
Report Lori November 17, 2012 8:46 PM GMT

Fantastic stuff.

Much as I dislike him, I hope Barney makes the final. All Dutch final would seem a fitting way to finish
Report pauliow November 17, 2012 9:57 PM GMT
Ouch that hurts. Yes I meant Norwich, layed at 6.8 and got out at 6.4 as I didn't like the way they were playing. Should have learnt from last week when they went 2-0 down to Villa. Chin up mate you'll get it back but don't chase.
Report happyhibee November 17, 2012 10:05 PM GMT
I hope he wins as I think it would be a better final Silver. As solid as Hamilton is I honestly think MVG would blow him away
