I'm happy to be corrected but I believe manipulating the qualifying tournaements mean Bates and Stompe got in because using the World Cup finalists from 3 years ago was the only way they could wangle a place for Barney.

Which meant they had to bin the qualifying competition for a couple of wildcards which has always taken place.

Dreadful.

i'll correct you sb, the last 2 'world cups' have been down as qualifying tournaments all year

no qualifying this time becuase there happens to be more qualifiers (more different players made the last 4 of tv tournments)

Looking forward to this always one of the best tournies of the year. Pity its on Sky tho I thought their coverage last year was of a far worse standard than ITV's used to be

Is there no other way to describe the tantalising prospect of a nine darter than "the tantalising prospect of a nine darter"?

King Kev will have a dedicated Wolver fanclub after his seminal travelogue about the town a few years back.

Kev's in talks with ITV over a 24 part tv programme where he tours Britain

He should certainly take over 'MacIntyre's Toughest Towns' for a start. The great man could descend on a typical town, stripped to the waist, eyes bulging with adrenaline, and taking on allcomers. Would make for Pulitzer Prize winning TV.
