Given how this match has progressed I think it could be very important that England continue to bat first and get a big score on the board. Indian bowling is better and it could be a very different story if Root doesn't hang around.

think i'd be giving the bowlers a little rest. 3 days in the field is long time. thrash 150 in a session and back us to get them out in 4 sessions. can always open with buttler and promote stokes

Yes need to get a lead of 400 odd. Not need for much more. England need to allow themselves 4 session.
I think it better to judge the declaration after lunch and see what the pitch is doing. Very important to open an end with the new ball. The pitch should be flatter in the morning so if England can bet an hour before lunch it will move the match on. |
