I meant too short................which I had grounds for thinking it was at the time. I had no knowledge of the rain to come.
By:
By the time I read it I thought you meant the opposite! Much as I hate backing short odds in cricket (and I nearly always come a cropper whenever I do), I can't see a result here so 1.3ish actually looks pretty good. Or at least it would if it was a men's team having to bat twice for probably a maximum of a day and a half if no more rain.
Perhaps we should have a forum rule that all "crazy price" statements specify the odds and the opined direction of craziness, cos I can't be the only one that feels stupid thinking "what do they mean, too long or too short?" |

By:
I don't think this game is dead yet but so much will depend on how much the pitch has deteriorated and what Englands approach will be.
The over rates in the Womens game are far higher than the mens, with an extra hours play added it's entirely possible we can get 120 overs each day. |
By:
If this pitch starts to crumble and spinning, will the England batters have the technique to bat out a long period of time with fielders round the bat?
I'd be amazed if they did |
By:
Do you reckon it will crumble though? It's already "used" so I've no idea what difference that will make. If Aus declared now Eng would only need 200 odd runs to avoid following on, so in two days either a minimum of 20 wickets have to fall (after only 5 fell in four sessions) or if Aus don't declare and Eng do avoid the f/o then as many as 35 will be needed.
By:
It might and it might not, I won't make any trades based on the pitch crumbling.
It's just something I want to be aware of that might happen and I'll react accordingly if I see any evidence of it |
By:
Sunny and high clouds = good batting conditions. I think I've convinced myself to stay with my position for now. The main thing against the draw is that Eng lose nothing by going for a win rather than trying to draw. I'm in loss-reduction mode so I'll be looking to cover if Aus get much higher.

Aus best chance of winning is to bat once, bat England completely out of the game, no point even talking about declaring
By:
Yeah let them suffer in the field, mental and physical toil will tell when they bat.
