Got a lay to go bigger green on results in at 3.8. Sounds like there’s enough there for wickets at some stage.

It's not the pitch that has made a difference. It's the swing. The Duke balls seem darker than usual plus the humidity at Brum and cloud at Lord's.

The toss at Lord's was massive though. I'd hate to see another tradition abolished though.

and again re toss. The side trailing in the series should have the choice. Toss if the score is level

We really want to avoid the possibility of the home side winning the toss two or three times in a row from the outset and dominating the series from the beginning so one could certainly give the choice to the visitors for the first of a series then either alternate or do DStyle's idea.

Likewise I've always thought umpires ought to err slightly on the side of the underdog too - often a team is miles behind but fighting back desperately until their last-hope batsman gets out to a very marginal umpire's call that would otherwise have kept the game alive, much to the benefit of the sport.

Got to think Pujara has an innings to bring the draw in by a point or so at least a couple of times the series.

Not much move in the draw before the wicket. I’ve got heavily stuck in to the 5 or so, so in trouble having been well placed only recently.

We’ll the 7s lay at 6.4 worked okay. Need a lot to redeem by excitement on backing draw around 5 after first wicket though.

ain't got the power..needs to play T20
well, that promising start hasn't really borne too much fruit
By:

When: 18 Aug 18 13:05
nothing to do with power or not. Shouldn't be playing that shot a few minutes before lunch. Particularly when India's target should be to get to the 40~45 over mark 2 down and then worry about scoring.

Fine if you get a good one when it's new and swinging, but that's just weak.

When: 18 Aug 18 13:08
It is weak but also good from Woakes. Nothing short and then a surprise bouncer and the sucker punch works. I don't think Pujara could believe he'd hit it so well!

Pujara has ruined the mornings work with that thoughtless shot, having lost the review also.

Unbelievable from Pujara really,

Dumb enough to get him dropped imho. These players are not learning anything. India lost 2 wickets just before lunch at Egbaston I think.

Back to where we started!

Where’s this good track? Looks like an absolute minefield. I’m in the poo again. If I do only gone a bit red after the first wicket would have been fine as was in a strong position then and have managed some trades since then on the second and third wickets but need some real stodge from a distinctly non stodgy looking Indian middle order here. Pant and Pandya next drops don’t fill me with 40 off 100 balls vibes.

Need suns out, guns out and no more swing. Even then I think England will chip away.
