i agree with that. i dont think the match will end in a draw but i do think it will trade lower

New Zealand do not play for draws and if they can see Anderson and Broad off, they may well rip into the England attack. I would expect NZ to score at close to 500 at around 3.5 an over, so that would be 140 overs, so tea on Day 3. As I stated before the England innings even started, we are team full of players, who score nice 20's 30's and 50's but nobody goes on to get a big score. Jonny Bairstow won't get a big score here unless Jack Leech and Jimmy Anderson can hang around for 90 minutes. So lets go through our scorecard, Cook and Malan were got out quickly and that can happen to any batsman. Starting an innings is the hardest part of batting. The rest of them Stoneman 35 Vince 18, Root 36, Stokes 25, is just not acceptable. Once you get in stay in and score big. England just don't do that.

That’s what I’m on although mostly looking short term for now, trying to nick a point at most with a couple of backs, perhaps a bit over with another.

Was interested to hear comms, Hussain and Franklin talking about Wood bowling 12-14 overs a day because of his fitness. This is why I described him as not a test player for me, right up the thread. Sure he’s scored some runs this game too but you don’t pick a specialist bowler to bowl less than a fifth of the days’s overs.

The problem is Wood could well break down and if he does the whole attack will rely on the 2 afore mentioned bowlers and Overton, as I'm not expecting Stokes to bowl that much either. Jack Leech, well we'll see how he bowls, but the surfaces we produce in this country are made for seamers and if the county championship gets under way in the next fortnight, a spinner is hardly likely to be needed.

unless its taunton where the pitches have been doctored for the last 2 years (hence leach's record)

As you know well, Test Cricket will never be played at Taunton, we need another Graeme Swann type spinner, who can actually turn the ball off the pitch.

Overton isn’t actually playing. If Wood breaks down Leach will be doing almost all the bowling from one end once the new ball has gone.

So I've just seen, so basically Anderson/Broad/Wood/Stokes and Leech, so when New Zealand don't lose many wickets you can see where I get my 500 from

Standard of cricket in the County Championship is very poor and they rely on having a good overseas player in the main.

A lot of pressure on Anderson, if he doesnt take wickets England are screwed

I think NZ will get a biggie and then England will bat much better in the 2nd dig. The pitch looks an absolute belter

By:

NZ will be happy to win 1-0, would be a massive series win for them. That's why the pitch wasn't green yesterday
By:
tyco161

I got some NZ runs 300 at evens and 400 at 4's. Not going to trade those, just hold on.
By:

When: 30 Mar 18 23:37
NZ may be happy to win 1-0 but I think if they can get a big one, the pressure may be just too hard for England. Also will England not "go for it" to try and win the test and square the series or will England be happy to bat out a draw and lose the series?
