I asked earlier who and why would you back Aus at odds on from their position. I guess we all knew the why. the spectre of 30-3 will be with us for a long time. The who is still a mystery!
Brainless batting again by England and Cook. Kill the ball. Wait till it goes inert. We still do not know if Lyon will spin it again. I think the bash on the bonce might help focus Root's mind after another few overs. He is tough and will be determined not to give it up. I guess we need to bat through tonight and at least half an hour tomorrow morning to stay in this game. Before then we shall see what Lyon has to offer. I don't think the result is a certainty yet. It is a great test of character for England though. I might suggest to whoever is in charge to send out and SOS to both Stokes and Wood! I did say the Ashes could be lost by the time they are picked! |

Looking like a crash test dummy!
They are supposed to have been practising in the nets with Ramprkash. No leg movement, no body movement, no twisting or ducking. What have they been doing? Mind you it is a proper examination! I would not be fancying it at all! |
|
By:
yes mate!
The best way to play a fast bowler is from the non strikers end! Tip and run! |

Don't underestimate the effect of 5 hours in the field in what looks like a very strong sun. It can't have helped and they all look tired before they start batting. The potential loss of Anderson could be the last nail in the coffin.

Well done boys. That took some guts!.
That is what I call a TEST match! Every run id vital. I hope they focus on taking the singles tomorrow morning and rotating the strike. Just stay in till the ball goes soft. We are very much in this game. We need to bat all day. 250 would certainly prove a dfficult target on day 5. The spin is slow for now but maybe just maybe Moen will get something more than he has thus far. Obviously Aussie are huge favourites now but they will also be under pressure with every partnership that lasts for more than half an hour. I have taken some punts on over 225 runs for England in the second innings. They really should be able to get there not they have seen how the pitch is playing and how the Aussie batsmen applied themselves. The longer England bat the more they and the draw will come down tomorrow. They are big prices for a gamble. I like a gamble! |

By:
it's awready come down ... I invested in the draw at 9.0 ...
|
|
By:
Draw will depend a lot on the weather. I'm expecting some rain tomorrow.
|
|
By:
think draw will depend on rOOt & Malan batting long ...
|
|
By:
England had an opportunity when the Aussies were 209-7 - can't afford to lose those critical periods of play which we do too often over there
I think we'll struggle to 175 in the 2nd innings which isn't nearly enough; I hope I'm wrong but the extra pace of their quickies will be a major difference through the series Got to give Smith credit for a magnificent innings; batting like that wins test matches |
|

Jeez Cook has fallen of the cliff and parachutes are nowhere to be seen!
I hope Bairstow moves up now and England look to go at 3 an over in search of a 270 type lead. Definitely achievable. I could not back them last night and nor could i lay Oz, so traded the draw some. I think the back draw to trade still but also now feel Oz have some value to lay 1.43.They still have a good bit to do but you would want Jimmy taking wickets also or trade back out before then. |
|
By:
In celebration of Juce's and Terry's return and pecker posting an understandable post I'll be laying Aussies.
|
|
By:
Forecast has improved and no rain looks likely. I'd be backing Eng here on price and Aus batting on a day 5 pitch.

We should give at least the first half hour to the bowlers this morning. Get the ball to 20/25overs old and then look to play a few more shots. We can press on in the middle session if need be when the ball is old and the bowlers tire.

we all backing over 225?
