Will spin throughout the match I would think. It's ripping now and NOT from the rough.

I think it's bone dry. It may look a bit green and be playing slow but grass can be 3mm and be green and dry. There's been no seam so I reckon it's dry. Good luck batting Day 5.

People forget Malan has gears, his international debut was a 78 off 44 balls in a T20 v Saffers

If I am not mistaken my new 49" 4K ultra TV is indicating there is minimal dust coming up off some of these Lyon deliveries?

Even i think, aussies will be looking to keep it below 300 and in their in with  a great chance

Surprised by Vince though, proved people wrong.

Vince at 3, what a fookin farce

Well played son!Grin

As i said 3 months ago..A bit of pace and bounce in Oz could well suit Vince..Laugh A pick.

I believe the market has got this wrong. I am shocked that Aussie is even money favourite. Granted it could go tits up very quickly but that is the gamble I am taking on. I don't think it will or rather I hope it won't. We should make 300, probably will make 350 and I think we could still get to 400.

I guess the smart operators will realise this gives Aussie a better chance of being the winner in a rain affected match but I also think the Aussie lay comes into play with the weather. The team most likely to be batted out of the match at the moment are Aussie. Yes England could collapse and Aussie go on to score 450 when the pitch is at its best but I gamble this will not happen. If England and maybe it is a big if by 2am do score 400 I still think it will be hard for Aus to win this game.

They will also be batting last. I think the spin came from the damp but the pitch does look a little dry and by day 5 the curator says it will spin.

btw tough day at work, sold the most sausage and egg MacMuffins everWinkWink!

Draw price held by the weather. (Good Day 2 then showers for the rest of the match).
England price short enough but Jonny, and these 2 could get us beyond 350 ( i said 'could')
Aus price very short given the inexperience of their batting.

I reckon 300 may be decent. Attritional cricket will continue..I think. Jimmy and Broad will soon resort to cutters with catchers in front of the bat.

England 300 ish, Oz 100-4 in 45 overs a possibility.

good shout whispering....england might collapse in the morning but if we suddenly see 350+ on the board the pressure is right on the aussies who do have weaknesses with the bat - if responding to a big total they could fall apart themselves
i certainly wouldn't rush to back the aussies at 2.02

I posted before I saw yours Whispering.

Ps those 'uniforms' at work suck don't they. If one more yank says 'can i get a...' I'll thump them..

PPs Still think the deck is bone dry. 'If it seams it spins.' Well it didn't seam but it spun. Must be a beach then.

Sadly Moeen will bowl filth among his jaffers.

1 swallow on a flat deck doesn't prove anybody wrong

400 runs in the series will do that

Agreed wonders.

I'm just glad the Ballance for Vince ploy won't happen until at least Melbourne..

The lad oozes class but made a mess of his first go. I wonder if Warne influenced his selection. Hants teammate, Warne has strongly supported Vince playing for England.

Who can say what will happen for sure injera!

Vince to the rescue? That would have been a wet dream! Never saw that coming although did have hopes for Stonewall and Malaan after the way they have batted on tour.

I thought Aussie bowled really well with intelligence, heart and good stamina. It is to be seen if we can do the same. We can be flat track bullied badly when there is no swing.

The good thing is we have put miles on their clocks. This must continue. I have no issues with run rates. This is total war or rather crickets equivalent. Don't forget if we skittle them then they are back in the field for 4 more sessions.

As I said I am not sure what will happen but Aussie are too short. We may lose a wicket early tomorrow but I have funds for that eventuality. An even money lay with the draw a prospect is a Black friday bargain as far as I am concerned. Also if it does go tits I am pretty sure I can cash out for a smallish loss.

Aussie lay 1.8
England back 4.16

vince has always had a classy technique just hasn't delivered at the highest level (until yesterday)

tbh it doesn't look like a wicket where sides are going to be skittled (in 1st inns anyway), a much heralded aussie attack effectively took 3 wickets in 80 overs on day 1

anderson & broad are notoriously ineffective bowling without the duke when there is nothing in the deck so I can easily see 350-400 playing 350-400 on 1st inns and then its up to the pitch day 4 & 5
By:

yup and in my view that brings the aussie lay into play!

I think England will pass 350 and be in a good position if Jimmy performs well.

Tom, can you ask Grant if he is just loving the money printer that is

I've greened up. I doubt this will go to a draw. The spinners will probably prevent that, but England could easily go well past 350 and draw goes much shorter.

I was expecting a seam friendly surface and didn't get it. Maybe today as the pitch dries out, but I feel England seaners will struggle without the pace of the Aussies.

A lot of uncertainty here with Eng 250 all out or as much 400+, got to find a way to score off Lyon.

The pitch has turned like this for Lyon for the last few years. However, it seems to turn and bounce too much at times
Sometimes subtle amounts of spin or nibbles of seam is more difficult to play.

im currently green draw and england with a moderate red on aus,was a big red until i reluctantly got rid of some when aus hit 3.5-3.7 when i see the ball reversing.(happy i did it now obviously)
as for now im gonna watch for spin/seam/swing with new ball and go from there....hope moeen gets the aussies all wound up by playing his way
long 1st session which i never like
