Watched it all on tv and agree with nearly everything you say WD. Alistair Cook looked very very good to me, well he was, one of his very best Test innings considering what the ball was doing. He's had a few breaks today, with the on/offs as Cook when he bats for the full day on the first day of a Test Match, usually gets out almost straight away, the next morning. Hopefully this won't be the case tomorrow and goes on to complete what will be a great 100 and can go on further. SA have a very strong bowling attack and although not bowling at their best, still made it very hard for England, but a score of 300 or more, will be a very good score, with the ball moving around sideways. It should suit the England bowling as well and should we pitch the ball up more, we ought to get a lead in the 1st innings.

Weather looking good for the rest of the match IMO, and Eng lucky to be only 4 down. Another wicket would have set me up nicely. As it is, I am barely in profit, but still 4 days to go. Decent chance we get 4 X 98 days in.

With the poor over rates probably get 90 in per day. 350/360 overs should be more than suffice to get a result.
Updated forecasts show hardly any more rain in the test, however they change every hour at the moment! Enough in the pitch and lots of signs of wear and tear already. I took a small profit at tea & have just laid the draw heavily at 3.7/3.75 Fancied SA before the game but they were average yesterday and batting last could be really tricky. Gone for the prudent approach and laid the draw. There is a low score around the corner in the next few days. England's price actually looks much more attractive now than it did yesterday after the toss. 180 on the board already, another 150 and they are in pole position |

I've cashed out again now, becoming too tricky . Going to play it session by session with the radar and the pitch. The forecasts are all over the opera.
I suppose this can happen on an island when there is unsettled weather patterns. Remember the NZ game against SA in March when the mass of rain just appeared from nowhere and washed out the final day. Made a packet on that, could be something similar in this game. Now I'm concentrating on tests more, I will be trying to squeeze every penny out of any weather opp. I think you will find the draw price will be more sensitive now the first day is out of the way, as we start eating into the test match overs every time there is rain and panic sets in |

I am going to waste an hour of my life looking at insinging yorkers from the greats now! I need T3 to be definitive on this. The only thing I know was that there was a lot of sympathy for poor old Malan yesterday playing in his only Test Match! The ball was without a doubt a brute but I have not seen it on camera yet! |

On another matter not sure Westley will last too long in international cricket.
Too many technical errors that he isn't going to be able to iron out at his age. Only a few batsmen in the history of cricket have been able to play across the line with such regularity with success. You need an amazing eye. |
