Hard to see a draw with the pitch doing so much, will need a ridiculous amount of rain
By:
Yeah, wish I'd taken more draw on earlier (although could very easily have been a couple more wickets) but I'm quite happy with my position having got a load of draw 4.2 to 5.2 with lays 4.5 down to 3.8 (ave 4.54 back, 4.12 lay). It could be a lot easier to bat on tomorrow but don't see a draw as anything like as probable as the market has it. They'll catch up the lost overs, mostly if not entirely.

SAF have bowled some real dross, can easily imagine either team collapsing if the bowling team get it right
By:
agree t3..not making the batsmen play nearly enough
By:
Got my final draw lay in so better result green than I started with for far less (although still £5.7k) draw red. Just hoping the sharp shower won't prevent them coming out for another 45m and 2-3 more wickets. Probably a bit greedy.

As an Albion fan I always thought Albion meant England. It evidently means Scotland. Which disappoints me. |

Chaz..always associate WBA with Jeff Astle |
By:
Jeff Astle score a goal for England in a World Cup and ended up as window cleaner, something that will never be repeated.
By:
^Correction^ he never scored, nearly did!
By:
Not quite a window cleaner he had a cleaning business.

So CS failed on both sides then

He was genuinely nice bloke.

By:
I still remember when I was a young kid watching Jeff Astle scoring the winner in the 68 FA Cup Final
And shouting at the telly when he missed that chance against Brazil in 70 Great goalscorer & played with a smile as many of them did when it was proper football |
By:
Yeah he used to sing at the end of fantasy football with Baddiel & Skinner. Did seem a top bloke, terrible if his heading prowess contributed to his illness that eventually killed him.
Would be in Top 10 of British footballers for ability in the air along with Duncan Ferguson, Mark Hateley. |

Hello Ladies,
Before my report from The Oval I just wanted to say to Grant I saw yout Thai comment and was briefly disappointed at the waste of tax payer money that has been spent on your " Diversity Training ". Having said that as a sportsman myself I saw the need for perseverence and your comment to Juce.... u have kids? or u going as coco the clown! As he was going to a children's birthday party filled me with hope that when you do get banged up for crimes against "Political Correctness" that tax payer money will not be wasted a second time because as a Sweatty obviously you cannot be the new Bard but you could be the new Rabbi Burns or at the very least the new Rab C Nesbit! |

I was in the Bedser Stand Upper. Mid off or rather lid on to the left hookers so didn'rt reallt see what the ball was doing. Will try and watch highlights.
From my point of view it was a great day of cricket even with the limited amount of overs bowled too slowly. I thought Cook looked good from the off, better footwork than usual. He looked in control of the situation. He looked very very good to me. I thought SA and Morkel in particularly wasted the overheads. He bowled too short and they bowled too wide. It felt like they had a plan but it was a dunmb plan when the skies were grey and wet! Criminal. Personally I would have shot Morkel. On the ground he looked the best bowler ( I was not behind the wicket ) but he wasted the opportunity. I have to say I nearly creamed my pants with the Malan dismissal. I did whoop out loud because it was an awesome delivery. The best yorker I have ever seen from fine leg. If ever someone got fcuked up it was Malan. It was obvious he was going to go but nobody could have played that one. 88/89 mph swinging yorker on leg stump in the dark when you have first come to bat. I do think England have made a good fist of this. SA wasted their opportunity imho and I could see Anderson cutting through SA in short time. As it stands it is evenly poised. I have layed England. I should have been able to green out today with my work done for the match but to me it is in the balance. All three results possible for me. |
