Groundsman says Test will go 5 days, and if you can't trust an Indian groundsman, who can you trust? Also MS Dhoni and the BCCI have been sticking their oars in.
In ODIs the pitch has been a relatively low scoring turner. Should be an Indian win.

Also 3 strips have been prepared and the India team get to chose which one to play on. Which doesn't sound altogether kosher to me.

I've layed the draw here at 4.5. I think this will be a result pitch and there's no rain forecast. The one dayers were low scoring at this ground so that indicates a difficult pitch to bat on. I think 4.5 for the draw is short.

Failed to get my lay in the low 4s but have taken a grand of draw at 5.5, which is a seriously high looking price for an unknown Indian track. Sometimes they're pretty flat.

Agree, Fatslogger. Looking at the prices, anyone could be forgiven for thinking the result is a foregone conclusion. I'm not playing at these prices and will wait until the match is underway before committing any money.

Ranchi pitch would give no chance to draw backers imh..This would turn from about the second ball..given the history in first class cricket Ranchi test would probably be over by early day 4.

Not wild about Aus at 4s, especially without Starc. Depends on how much you buy very recent form, as they've been good this tour, versus what's you reckon of their merits from a longer look at their sub continent form, which is bobbins.

I'm not sure if I would want to back or lay Australia at 4. I'very done some good pre match trading here so I won't do anything else until I see how this pitch behaves.

I am a little weary as if Aus win the toss I could forsee India being hoist on their own petward here and it would serve them right and ordinarily I would cheer that but we are talking about Australia so old bogotry dies hard! I hope Aus play The Big Show as he has the X factor that Aus will need. If he can go after Ashwin on a low scoring match that could change the complextion of the game. fFailing that Aus must play either Ashton or Swepson. Oh Boom! That has turned things upside down. We could be in for another exciting match! |

I dont think India need the extra spinner and Nair is good at sweeping the off spinner.

I thought Agar would have been better for Aussie than Marsh because of his batting and Swepson may have had some luck with the pitch. Maxwell has to get runs to make his selection work. He will just have to close his eyes and whack it as he does not really have the technique for Test Cricket but he has a good eye!
