It's utter madness but having got piles and piles on in the 7s when already pretty red on India and moderately so on England, I can't have any more. The bravest I can be here is to move some lays down, which I've done already but I need it down to 3s really. I am very well placed indeed if it gets there, especially if an England win is still in the picture at that stage.

NZ had quite a few decent starts and then fell away. England have two top class batsmen & their middle/late order is superior to NZ's

I agree with this. This does look dry and I think will turn, as the comms keep ramping but I don't see it being unplayable any time soon. Initially the turn won't be massive and it's going to be slowish. England need a first innings lead though, as pxb said a way up, although I don't think it necessarily needs to be a huge one. If it's really dusting up by later on day 3, into day 4, anything a bit better than parity gives you a shot, as while you'd not fancy chasing 200 final innings, the Indian second innings could be a brief one too.

This may be getting over excited after the last game and England may also miss Woakes but the England batting isn't at al bad. Hameed could be a real find and Cook (in India especially) and Root are class so the top 3 looks strong. Duckett is dodgy at 4 but it's then pretty good again with Ali, Stokes and Bairstow, down through Ansari and Rashid, who's a decent number 9.

The draw really doesn't want to know here. It's only come down by about 1.2 from 7.2 or so to 6 from most of a session of batting on a flat deck, without India even getting away run rate wise. As usual, I suppose, it sticks around the integers.

Watson had a really strong FC record as a batsman, I think averaging 50. He never quite realised that potential at test level but as a useful enough fourth seamer too, he was a lot better than Marsh, for example, although picking a bowling all rounder to at at 6 is a bit unfair to him.

It won't go a long way down during India's innings, I don't think as it won't take from India much if at all and England's price is already fairly long, particularly for a side that's taken two wickets. It will get a little way under 5, I think, without wickets sooner if there's a lull in run scoring. It's looking a bit like backing the draw at pre toss prices is going to have to be a generator of small profit only or a long move though.
