Got a feeling they might water the ends on a length so the bowlers scuff it up in the first few days & create a sandpit.

terrible odds anyway mate, even taking india at 1.6 for the 1st test and 1.5 for the other 4,that would be at least 7-1 may as well wait for bet fair to make a market.
|
|
By:
I can get better odds than that by just backing India in each game and carrying it forward.
Then I can see if there is any rain too. |
|
By:
bet fair got a market now india 5-0 5.9 at the moment
|
|
By:
If India are say 1.5 and I bet and carry forward each profit, I would get approx 15/2 so I will do that.

The bf market is trading.

With no weather issues and a likely bunsen a draw seems improbable. Are Engalnd capable of beating India in these conditions ? No. So that leaves one conclusion, it just depends if you can get a better price than the 1.58 currently available. I suppose if England win the toss and get to 20/0 then you might, but if india win the toss its a likely train. So you might aswell lump on now. Which is what i have done.
Goid luck. |

That seems terribly confident, to me. I don't have much faith in England's top order batting or spin bowling and having much better pace may not be hugely helpful in this series, even though a better tail probably will be but India doesn't have a flawless side either. I'd be a bit surprised not to see England make a real game of at least a couple of the tests and probably win one. There's also the chance of a flat deck somewhere in there, although England don't tend to draw tests even on those. I'd rather lay a whole lot of draws than back a whole lot of Indias but either could work.

I Ashley think England are a half decent side so I guess that is the problem, the other half!
I think the batting can be decent at times although the top 4 needs re construction. Personally I would have liked to have Root at 4 or opening but we don't have a 3. My team would be something like Cook Hameed Root Moen Bairstow Stokes Butler Woakes Ansari Rashid Broad I think Billings should have been taken along too. It would appear Rashid is too expensive for Test Cricket but at least give him a go on an India Tour. Ansari is in for India's right handers but agin is he good enough? probably not at this stage of his career and maybe shouldn't be on the tour but he is the left arm spinner in the group so plays for now. I wouldn't bother with Batty. Moen is more likely to get wickets. It will be interesting to see how quickly England can get the ball to reverse and how much work they will put into it. I do think England were God awful in Bangladesh. I am sure they won't play as badly. I think I am going to play this match cautious but if India bat first it is a no brainer. Dan might be right small bet India up front and then pile in or out after the toss |

Rahul, Dhawan and Rohit injured. Ashwin at 6?
Opportunities for England. Not least in that the pitches may not be the bunsens we saw in Banga. Having said that, I reckon we'll get stuffed ![]() Hoping for some close matches and great betting. Draw already looks rather big.... |
|
By:
England don't do draws, just 3 in the last 25 matches, one rain affected against sri lanka earlier this year, the other two absolute roads in the UAE and Cape Town.
Having said that the draw might well trade a lot lower, especially if India win then toss ( or rather when India win the toss ). Although i do think England winning the toss will make for a better spectacle and for greater betting opportunities.i just cant see this England team winning in these conditions , they may push India close in a couple of games but ultimately it will be 4 or 5 nil. |

Its a new ground. I tried to find some ranji trophy games on the ground and after looking around found only one from last year October. Just took a look at the scorecard. And guess what i found? A lot of wickets went to the spinners.
You'd say that is normal. Only it ain't. Because spinners ended up taking a total of 40 wickets in the game. And among the spinners who shared those 40 wicekts, there was one familiar name who took 13 wickets. One Mr. Ravindra Jadeja :D The game was done inside two days. I couldn't find a more recent game at the stadium though. But if india win the toss, i'll be lumping on them for sure. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ranji-trophy-2015-16/engine/match/901775.html |

There's been 2 more games since then detrav, both in November and the second of those saw 551 play 437,only 20 wickets in 4 days play.

I think they sent the ladies onto the pitch today with wire brushes to scrub off the grass. This was after 4pm. With regard to the photo of the pitch can anyone confirm that it was of the current pitch or was it an SCA library photo?
The outfield is lush. The ball is similar to Duke so it may take longer if at all to reverse. It is not looking good for England I have to say but I don't like betting heavy odds on at the start of any match particularly when on another surface they could be viewed as evenly matched teams. If England win the toss and astonishly do bat well it could be a long train ride back so in the words of the immortal George Michael I am going to have to say caution pays! |

"The history here, though, suggests it would just need them two days to inflict a character change of the soil.
The trick is pretty simple. Water on the good length areas, let it soak in to 2mm depth, and just wait for the magic potion to do its bit. In two days, those areas would go softer, and an odd boot pressed on it on the first day would dent it enough to produce decent rough patches to aim for. Jadeja knows how to land them there, and Ashwin can cause enough heartbreak without curator’s help but won’t mind such assistance." |

The ICC has been less than happy with some recent Indian Test pitches, so may be decent to bat on first up and deteriorate fairly slowly. A good toss to win I think. But India will take advantage of their superior spinners. Just not too blatantly. If Eng win the toss and bat first, could be in with a reasonable chance.
|
|
By:
And the match will use DRS, and the LBW changes should benefit India. I don't think people appreciate how much the changes benefit spinners, and could well have been a quid pro quo to get India to use DRS.

There is a very good statistical article on cricinfo about spinners and lbw's. Will find it later if nobody post's it before hand, am off on shelp stacking duties but if I find any clowns like T3 I will have my vengeance!

jucel, did you get your series 5-0 bet on?
Someone took my lay of same at 5.3, but I doubt it was you. Too short a price. |

No I'm just going to make my own accumulator by hopefully adding the winnings to each stake on each game.
