Don't really see a result other than Pakistan win here but wow is 1.36 an unattractive price? I'm tempted by a draw tickle at 5.5 but hate having to rely on WI batting for anything other than humiliating awfulness and even that occasionally doesn't appear when you want it to.

I'm expecting a road, and WI can be decent on a flat pitch as they showed in the recent draw against India.

The only thing stopping me lumping on is the fact that its a day nighter and therefore there are a lot of unknowns.
The first day nighter only lasted three days but that was in Australia on a pitch that nipped around,his pitch is likely to be flatter. Next we have the dew factor which makes it more difficult for the spinners to grip the ball, although i have just read that they are intending to spray the outfield with something that will prevent dew !! who knows ? Sunset is around 18:00 in Dubia at this time of year, the match starts at 15:30, does the light go quickly? Whats the tactics with these day night games? is it better to bat first no matter what? There is also a lot of talk about the seam on the pink ball and how difficult it is to see, the ball in this match will have a black seam to try and solve that problem. What difference will that make ? who knows ? WI have just been whitewashed in the T20s and ODIs, Pakistan are on the up and have a great record in the UAE so everything points to 3-0 but i just cant push the back button at 1.34!!! |

Didn't realise this is a D/N Test.
With all the unknowns WI could surprise Pak and 1.3 looks awfully short. OTOH my initial assessment that the draw could go short on a flat pitch no longer valid. I'm probably not alone in not really knowing how to play this. |

Feels to me like it must be worth getting on draw at 7s if available, looking to lay off as the sun goes down, assuming flat track rules apply to the first session.

Well i've talked myself out of lumping on Pakistan, we are all just guessing a bit really, probably best to sit and watch tomorrow and react accordingly rather than preempt.

Just look at who Pakistan have turned over comprehensively in the UAE last few years. 3-0 incoming!

Got to be a draw back to lay at times during this game. I think you will be able to tell pretty quickly how the ball is going to react under lights. It will either do loads or nothing at all.
Plenty of dew may negate spin, swing etc & it may come onto the bat nicely. |

FWIIW, temperature not forecast to go below the dew point (although it's a bit more complex than that). And I believe the stuff they spray does stop dew droplets forming.

Cheers pxb, I was just thinking about the T20s a few weeks ago in Dubai.
I think it will be small bets for me in this test! Also, the times are not great for Asia/Aus, with the last session going well past midnight. |
