Had totally given up on my cash for this game and discovered to my delight that I was able to lay Kent at 1.8 for £100 plus on Yorks and still £650 on Kent.  Think Yorks a little undervalued at that sort of price with a fair way still to go, no matter how nicely this pair is going.  Also on Surrey at 1.57.  Mind you, after my efforts laying the draw in the test match, I need to win quite a bit on the one day games.

Wish I'd carried on putting my rather wide awake daughter to bed and not noticed Kent's revival, as would then not have laid off.  This looks very, very gettable from here, as does Surrey's target but 5 down is pretty precarious: wicket falls and the whole thing can collapse in a heap very fast.

No, although the "match odds including tie" market is basically the same.  Nobody seems to bet on results on it but people do bet on the tie.  In games with both markets, the tie odds shuffle across both markets so if you place a bet on one, it appears on the other.   Quite clever in a way although it's not really any better than just having the tie market.

I was on Surrey and had given up on it.  Funny old day.  Glad I lost money on Ireland (comical backs at 20s with Pakistan 5 down and by no means certain to score millions more.

All over red rover here.  Shame.

I'm well aware of the match odds with tie, its just that the cross market matcher, or bot user wasn't playing. No money in that market when I looked.

Actually, good point. That is how we lose our banks in one night. but not tonight!
Report VardonVoo. August 18, 2016 9:25 PM BST
BF have a thing they call "Liquidity Pooling". They've had it in football markets for a while. I've noticed "mirrored bets" appearing elsewhere, possibly by independent bots, but it would be uber good if BF officially operated LP in cricket and tennis markets.

As long as your bank can sustain 2^n, you'll always make money using Martingale.

Oh, took me a while to understand this.  Thought you were describing the opposite approach of backing long odds rather than short.  Yep, that would have been a painful effort.

Funny old thing, I've had a good day overall on results and dodged a bullet on the Surrey chase (backed when Northants 9 down thinking 1.57 was awful generous for a chase of likely under 240) but still feel a bit deflated after that finish not going to the end.

Yeah but how many flip-fops was that?  n=6 means your tenner has to become £320 just to avoid losing your fiver. I think there might have been at least that many there.

By "mirrored bets" (and also the idea behind "liquidity pooling") I mean a bet in one market is mirrored in a related but less liquid market, meaning that if you have a position which you want to get out of which is now equivalent to, say, a draw in the main market, then you might have enough liquidity to get out in the same market instead of having to place a separate bet in the main market and run two opposing positions (and get screwed on the commission on the winning side eve if you lose overall). I wish they'd make commission payable onnly on net winnings across all markets related to one event though - that would be a great idea for a promotion, don't you think?
Report trader pj August 18, 2016 9:50 PM BST

What puzzles me is that if one side of the book is trading at say 60-70 and the other side is 1.01-1.02 why does the 60 not get matched even though 1.02s are getting laid on the other side? I thought the idea of a bet-matching algorithm was to ensure you got the best odds available on a given outcome.
