The last two games here have shown the pitch to play differently than before. The pitch against SA ended up turning square & they just held on. The following game against Pak had a bit in it for all the bowlers, especially reverse swing.
If you can remember, the forecast against Pak last Aug was for rain & the draw was under 1.4 after the first 30 minutes. Therefore I may back the draw as a starting position (once some liquidity appears). |

By:
I've changed my mind on this a couple of times. Not a good omen. I may follow you on the draw back if it looks like some rain tomorrow.

Tough call. I think it is a wait and see again. Favouring a draw but would like to see how dry the wicket is before parting with any cash. Interesting to see the make up of India team.
By:
Back of India for me as they are a much stronger team than Sri Lanka. have only used a third of my normal stake in consideration of the uncertain weather.

Foinavon,
To use the immortal words of Ridgely and Michael...caution pays ![]() |

A rough summary of the forecasts is, 2 good days, followed by 3 days that may be not so good.
Decent chance the draw goes out those first 2 days and will be a back. |
By:
Sri Lanka have only lost 2 in the last 29 tests but don't be fooled as India look like a far different class team to Sri Lanka. Most tests have lasted at least 5 days at this ground with a fair few of them ending in draws.
I am not a lover of backing draws but this looks like a massive back the draw to lay especially if India bat first and going on previous tests this is a batting wicket. A few showers forecast for Saturday and Sunday and we should all be ok. If India bat first I will be topping up on the draw and the draw could be as short as 1.9 by lunch. |
By:
Both teams will be chasing the win as the series is at 1-1 but whoever bats first will rather get the runs on the board and then chase the game rather than go full out and win. Draw to lay looks very good.
By:
Mathews will be playing for a draw, as usual.
By:
Draw has shortened at the expense of India. Looking to lay SL for more.
By:
Although in the bizzaro world of sub-continent cricket betting, that dip in the draw was probably caused by some rain today in Colombo.
By:
6k done at 2.32? wtf
By:
thinking about it, surely the draw back is the way forward. If India win the toss we see what happens and pray for rain. If SL win the toss the chances of India winning reduce. Now that is 50/50 on the toss of a coin at 2.6. Goods odds!
By:
I don't think you will need to pray very hard.
By:
looks to be quite a lot of rain around Colombo & SL in general this morning
By:
2.32! fell asleep last night at 2.6!
Taken a bite on the draw. Any chance of SL producing a bunsen to try and even up their chances? |
By:
I wouldn't of thought so WD, not with Ashwin bowling well to all the lefties. India have them covered on all bases to be fair. Better batsmen, better seamers & better spinners.
Also, the wicket had grass on yesterday so I assume a bunsen is out of picture. |
By:
yes good point, India are clearly the better side in all departments.
Have you made a stabd yet juce? I am thinking about throwing some money at the draw but some prudence her emight be a btter idea! Can't find any webs cams to see for myself what the weather is like! |
By:
Backed the draw at 2.64 yesterday. Purely on opening value re high first innings totals at the ground, rain etc
By:
Amazing how difficult it is to find a webcam, a tweet etc until about an hour before play!
By:
When TV coverage starts with pics of it raining, as I expect, I'll look to cover some of my SL red.
By:
I hate waiting like this. The game doesn't start here til 11.30am & it feels like an eternity waiting for info.
By:
Aus/NZ are the best for me, I wake up and it's time for the game - 5am/6am/7am. England is the worst, 5pm start and if you are sitting on a red, it's a long time to ponder

weather seems fine |
By:
loads of grass on the pitch too!!
By:
do you miss kippers and scrambled eggs?
I am just about to have some ! |
By:
I haven't had kippers for years. Lovely with some brown bread, if I remember rightly & butter.
I can get almost everything here nowadays, the world has shrunk in recent times. |
By:
In fact almost everything I eat is homemade & fresh. Local expats make bread, bacon, sausage, pies etc & because it's made in their homes it isn't processed or plastic. All thai food is made fresh to order too. Don't see many cans, tins, packets etc. Or the dreaded microwave meals!!
By:
Cashed out now 2.2-2.28 & going to lay the draw for a bit.
By:
Our first inputs from the SSC, which has often been brushed aside as a road. But Sharda Ugra informs "the pitch is nicely uncovered with patches of previously unseen grass" and that there are "low grey cloud" hanging about
By:
Partial to kippers, myself.
By:
So if it doesn't rain, could be an interesting morning with grass on the deck & overcast skies
By:
clouds moving away from the ground.
Cricinfo - But they are moving away from the ground now. No threat to the start of the Test, speaking of which, toss in just a bit |
By:
Sri Lanka have won the toss and will bowl

First time played on this strip
